December 22 -- While Tiger Woods’ popularity plummets in the wake of his ongoing sex scandal, PGA Tour golf star Phil Mickelson’s online image is on the rise.
Woods, whose online reputation has fallen from a pre-scandal online high of 91 percent positive to just 37 percent as of December 22, according to Zeta Interactive, has always been a bigger draw on the PGA Tour than Mickelson. With Woods on an indefinite hiatus from professional golf and losing fans by the score, perhaps Mickelson will finally receive the adulation that his loyal cadre of supporters believe he deserves.
Buzz up. Mickelson, ranked third on the PGA Tour money list, enjoys an online buzz quotient of 93 percent positive, an 11 percent jump since news of Woods’ scandal broke late last month, according to Zeta, a digital marketing agency in New York.
Accruing even better scores are Mickelson’s sponsors, whose online popularity grows as Woods’ endorsers’ approval ratings plunge.
The online popularity of Callaway Golf, which endorses Mickelson, has risen from a pre-scandal 78 percent positive factor to 90 percent, says Zeta.
The volume of online references to Callaway have jumped nine percent since the scandal as well, according to Zeta, which monitors positive and negative “buzz” ratings of celebrities and companies based on blogs, tweets, and other online postings.
Another Mickelson sponsor, luxury Swiss watch maker Rolex, has jumped from an 83 percent online approval rating to 91 percent since news of Woods’ serial cheating hit the Web at warp speed.
Buzz off. Tag Heuer, also a high-end Swiss timepiece manufacturer announced last week it planned to limit Woods’ image in its marketing strategy. The company did an about-face days later, placing the top-ranked golfer’s face on the first page of its Web site with the message, “Tag Heuer stands with Tiger Woods.”
The firm may want to do another 180, as its reputation is tanking with Web surfers. Tag Heuer has dropped 40 percent, from an online positive rating of 86 percent to 46 percent, since Woods’ infamous car crash on November 27.
Nike, which continues to endorse Woods, has fared relatively well, having lost only seven percent online popularity points over the last week, according to Zeta.
Accenture, on the other hand, dropped Woods as a shill for its consultancy services and has reached an all-time high 89 percent share of positive online buzz, Zeta says.

I like Phil as a golfer. Rumors of his dalliances have been around for a while. Don't be surprised if he's the media's next target.
Who cares about Phil? Now that Tiger is gone, the pressure to perform has increased, something Phil hasn't done well with in the past. Anyway, Elin should dump Tiger, and let him join Amway, along with his "girlfriends", as Amway also screws anything that moves. Amway is a scam, and here's why: Amway pays out as little money as they can get away with, so they support the higher level IBOs ripping off their downline via the tool scam. As a result, about 99% of IBOs operate at a net loss, while the top 1% make several TIMES more from their Amway tool scam than from the Amway products. Read about it on my blog, I suggest you start here: Google "Amway the rest of the story" and forward the information to everyone you know, so they don't get scammed.
The author of this is lying, the key word is "perhaps" Nobody likes phill anyway. But, I guess he is still the great white hope.
Tag Heuer's decision to place Tiger Woods as the face of its web site is the height of human arrogance. In so doing, Tag Heuer condones all that has been revealed about this man's singular actions in his private life. This placement by Tag Heuer implies that his private life cannot be disassociated with his public life, because they are asking people to purchase their products. And the percentage of the population who will no longer purchase their products by virtue of what has been revealed about their spokesperson is a disservice to their shareholders. But this egregious action is so much more than that. This placement of Tiger Woods implies that Tag Heuer condones his obnoxious web of deception against his wife, against his own children, against his Mother and their family name and just as important, his sponsors, one being Tag Heuer. How many women serve on the corporate board of Tag Heuer? I wonder if the men running this company asked their wives how they might feel about this?

What rumors, the ones you're trying to start? The unfortunate part of the web is that jerks like you can attempt to spread your sick lies.
This is BS Phil will always be a second rate choker.
Also have you never heard the rumors about phil and wife?
At least Phil has respect for the game and it's history. Tiger just cares for himself. I could care less who he has slept with, but on the course he is a punk bastard. That's what I care about. Happy Holidays everyone.
