John Daly mounts Twitter campaign to be Golf Channel's next "Haney Project"

February 24 -- John Daly, whose Golf Channel reality show will air March 2, has mounted a Twitter campaign to become Hank Haney’s next project golfer.

“Gonna Ask all my Twitters & Take a Survey for the Golf Channel--You think I should be the Next ‘Hank Haney’ Project? Hank Teaching the Pro,” Daly tweeted Wednesday.

Swing changes. Daly, who played three stellar rounds at last week’s Mayakoba Classic, only to blow up in the final round, has reportedly made some swing changes.

“He’s weakened his right hand, putting it more on top of the club so he feels he will not break down with his left wrist at impact,” according to PGATour.com's John Maginnes.

The new swing had Daly sometimes moving his head at impact, Maginnes said.

Everybody Doesn’t Love Raymond. As for a Daly turn with Haney? At least one Big John follower “would rather watch [Haney] help someone that can actually BENEFIT [Twitterer’s emphasis] from his teachings, other than some comic.”

Ya hear that, Ray Romano? Comedian Romano is Haney's current undertaking.

Still, some of Daly’s tweeps wondered if “Haney” were the way to go,

Major change. “[Haney’s] very big into the short backswing and I think shortening your backswing would be a major swing change,” posted one fan.

Another follower asked the same thing.

“would you be open to making the drastic swing changes that he'll have you make??” queried the tweet.

Pitchman. While Daly may have a way to go to get his golf game under control, it’s not as if he were sitting around twiddling his thumbs. The newly fit Daly is making the rounds on radio to promote his upcoming “Being John Daly” show, has a new music CD set for a March 15 release, and has a gig modeling Slix underwear.
