November 27 -- Boston golfers can enjoy huge savings on Black Friday online deals, but be sure to read the fine print about what golf merchants are actually discounting.
Golfsmith is offering $20 off orders of $125 or more, $50 off orders of $250 or more, plus free shipping. If you want a pair of FootJoy DryJoy golf shoes at a Black Friday online discount, however, you’re out of luck.
“Manufacturer restrictions” prohibit Golfsmith from discounting “select items” from some of the most popular golf equipment makers, according to Golfsmith’s Web site. In addition to the DryJoys, FootJoy has excluded all of its products from the Golfsmith’s Black Friday online deals.
You can also forget about filling your favorite golfer’s stocking with any and all Pinnacle or Titleist golf balls.
Looking for just the right Black Friday online deal on a Callaway Golf X-22 graphite iron set (3-iron to pitching wedge) for the first day of Chanukah? Golfsmith can't offer a Black Friday online deal for that item or a slew of other Callaway merchandise. It's probably easier to determine which Callaway products -- or Cobra, Mizuno, Odyssey, or TaylorMade, for that matter -- are available at the Black Friday prices.
Early returns. Black Friday crowds shopped early for big-ticket items like high-definition TVs, computers, and other electronics gadgets, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Some retailers, however, experienced fewer shoppers than expected, in large part because of the huge assortment of Black Friday online deals, the Journal surmised.
Black Friday Deals Week. Among the big-name online retailers, Amazon.com offered a “Black Friday Deals Week” that began Monday.
Amazon also offered shoppers up-to-date specials from competitors and pledged to “meet or beat their prices...so you can skip the long lines and still save a bundle,” according to the Amazon Web site.
The aim, of course, is to keep Black Friday shoppers out of stores and online.
Black Friday online golf deals. There are a slew of sites to shop for Black Friday online deals on golf gear. JP’s Sporting Goods offers free shipping and a $399.99 price tag for that Callaway X-22 iron set.
Then there’s golflocker, which will sell you a pair of DryJoys for $79.95.
How about a TaylorMade Burner driver? Check out bizrate.com for Black Friday online deals starting at $139.99 (just $118.99, with coupon, from rockbottomgolf).
Rock-bottom prices. Indeed, rockbottomgolf seems the place to go for Black Friday online deals. The site offers 15 percent off its entire inventory through November 30.
You can pick up a dozen “near mint” Titleist Pro V1s for $13.59, or a Bag Boy three-wheel push cart for $67.00. Just use the coupon code, “Black Friday,” during checkout.
