The Warriors aren't really considering trading Anthony Randolph, are they?

Is Anthony Randolph a cornerstone or is he on the move?

Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer is reporting the Warriors and Bobcats are talking trade, with the key names being Raymond Felton, Anthony Randolph and Brandan Wright.

Link here ...

There is also little doubt that Gerald Wallace and Corery Maggette are being talked about, too.

The Warriors are looking to move Maggette; the Bobcats are looking to trade Wallace.

One trade that works is this: Felton and Wallace for Maggette, Wright and Marcus Williams.

Another trade that works is this: Felton and Wallace for Maggette, Randolph and Williams.

If the trade turns out to be the second one -- or similar to the second one in that it involves Randolph -- it would be the Warriors' biggest head-scratching move over a brief period of time in which they've had a few of them.

It would also be another indication that coach Don Nelson and executive vice president of basketball operations Chris Mullin aren't on the same page and aren't even in the same building.

Because those were among Mullin's three most recent acquisitions.

Ordinarly, this wouldn't be a potential trade I'd  pay much attention to. Anthony Randolph?

C'mon ... that's like one of those ridiculous New York Knick trade rumors that used to come out a few years back, the ones where the Warriors would give up good players and get bad ones back.

From Day 1, the Warriors have been selling this kid as a big piece of the team's future. The organization talks about him like he's got a chance to be a real difference-maker, dare I even say a guy who can help turn around your franchise.

That's what they've been saying.

And if the Warriors actually move Randolph in a package that gets them only Wallace and Felton, then it really means what's up is down and what's down is up.

How could that possibly be, after all, when the one thing everyone in the organization supposedly agrees on is that Randolph has the chance to be special?

Then again, Randolph was looking awfully unhappy as he sat on the bench and didn't play in Wednesday's loss at Indianapolis.

Even those who maintain this year's backslide was necessary, and do so under the suspect rationalization that the Warriors' long-term future is better, always add that Randolph is going to be the real deal.

Really? The real deal gets you Wallace and an undersized point guard on the last year of his deal who you can't play alongside Monta Ellis anway?

Trading Wright wouldn't be as egregious but it still would be a tough pill to swallow.

At the very least it's an admission that the Jason Richardson-for-Wright trade of 2007 didn’t work out.

If it was part of a larger deal to acquired Kevin Garnett at the time, guess what? Kevin Garnett's not walking through that door.

And if the thought was that Wright was going to be your future four, then you were wrong, there, too, because apparently Nelson is having difficulty even envisioning Wright as a rotation player.

More Warriors, NBA ...

I just want to slap this Rowell guy, even for just the rumor of trading Randolph. What is going on. I dont mind them struggling but lets not give away the farm until we get Monta back and see what we have.

I would say I like Wright but I would make that trade with him and Maggette.

Hi Matt - I'm going to assume that Rowell and Nelson aren't insane and will not trade Randolph. That said, it's obvious the Ws are a disaster. My question is: who in college do you think might help them out most? Defensive Point Guard? Inside scoring?

Going to put my 2 cents in this mess.
Let's just say Rowell is actually running the show. If he trades Wright or especially Randolph straight up for Felton, he needs to be fired before his ego can do more damage.

I can live with a Maggette/Wright for Felton/Wallace. Wallace would be better equipped to play the 4 in Nellieball providing better defense and rebounding than Maggette.

It's obvious that Nellie would rather play 7 guards/swings and 2 bigs. He likes bigs who like to shoot 3s and who are soft. Just look at Dirk's game and his lack of a post game under Nelson.

i think that warriors fans and bobcats fans alike would riot if Brandan wright was sent back to charlotte.
remember, they are the team that drafted him, traded him for Richardson, traded Richardson for Diaw, and now are supposedly trying to trade for him again?

Warriors fans would look at it as trading Richardson, and a year and a half later getting raymond felton in return.
Also, the roster is already all guards, why do we trade for 2 more swingmen in felton and wallace? We need our big men to come up big for us. we only have 3 non rookie bigmen. + Randolph and Kurz.

I love Nellie, but he needs to play Wright. Wright has been statistically one of the most efficient players in the entire NBA this season. He needs to start clearing the defensive glass. once he does that he will be in the rotation for good, sort of like Bellinelli. Once bellinelli started playing D and passing he became a starter. I think this is Nellie's tough love thing. He wants specific things from specific players and he doesn't play them until he gets what he wants, every single time.

What are we going to do with all these guards? Is there some other trade in the background? "Don't trade big for small. That's the cardinal sin in basketball." I heard this on some broadcast somewhere. It started with Al, and now we're looking to get rid of one possibly two bigs??? Who's next, AB for Stephon? Then we can boune Ronny T for Steve Francis! Woo hoo, small ball is awesome! God, please?!?

Don Nelson is ruining this franchise...again. Trading Randolph would be ridiculous and makes no sense. And you can tell from AR's body language the past few games that he's hating Nelson. Wallace would be a much better fit as an undersized 4 than Maggette, but even still, Nellie's incessant need to be outcoached by using ridiculous lineups is killing this team, their morale, and their development. Nelson needs to go. He is a horrible fit for this roster.

Maybe Randolph's name is just being thrown around by the Bobcats because they really want him and for good reason. But in actuality Wright is the only one that the Warriors are realistically going to trade. I think the Maggs, Wright and Williams trade is the best potential trade for the Warriors.

Rowell moving Wright makes much more sense than Randolph since Wright is Mully's guy and the Randolph pick was made when he had much more input.

If the deal really is Maggette/Williams/Wright for Wallace/Felton count me among those that is fired up for this.

The trade makes the Warriors better today, and in the future. Wallace fits Nelly's system, doesn't need plays called for him to score, rebounds, blocks shots, and would instantly become the Warriors' best perimeter defender. If the Warrriors need to stop someone at the end of the game Monta, Jackson, Wallace, Turiaf, and Beidrins is a pretty touch defense to overcome. Wright's ceiling is probably somewhere right around where Wallace is now anayways.

Oh and the Warriors get out of Wallace's contract a year before Maggette's, and gives them an actual point guard even if he's not an exceptional one.

    PG: Crawford/Felton/Watson
    SG: Monta/Belinelli/Morrow
    SF: Jackson/Azubuike
    PF: Wallace/Randolph
    C: Beidrins/Turiaf

MUCH better than the current crew..

Wallace is a great player but not at the expense of losing Randolph. He will be an Allstar someday. warriors need to be patient. I would do the deal if it was Wright not Randolph in 5 seconds if Charlotte added a draft pick. I just hope we are not headed down the same road we did "post webber/spree". Rebuilding is one thing but being unwatchable is another.

Warriors SUCK....the NorCal Clippers...no doubt about it.

its truly disgusting to watch Nellie ruin this franchise...we Dubs fans get to watch NBDL all stars play 35+ minutes a game instead of the seeing the future develop.

As bad as a rebounder BW is, its better to have him in to try to block shots and provide hustle plays than to watch Kaz chuck stupid jumpers and Jack getting away with forcing stupiod plays because he is "Nellie's guy"....

Why not start AR next to BW so they can both make up for each others definciencies....

Monta, Marco, AR, BW and AB is what the starting lineup should be..

Old arce Nellie is way too out of touch to be coaching anymore....is it really an earth shattering record when he breaks the all time win record? Its not like he's Barry Bonds going for the HR record?

    Truly disgusting to watch....No Hope...

The Dubs will end up with the #1 pick and guaranteed Nellie will pass on Blake Griffin and draft Tyler Hansbrough....GUARANTEED...and he'll use the "Hansbrough is a more athletic Rob Kurz...our team needs more players like that"

    Total BS

Even talking about a trade like this shows that Nellie, Nellie's actions, and the front office are all on totally different planets. Nellie says it's a rebuilding season and the W's won't make the playoffs. Nellie's actions are to bench his prospects all season long and play his long contract veterans in losing efforts every night. The front office think that we should trade our young prospects for another guard and possibly another 3 that will be less than happy to play the 4.

Ok, now you're starting to make sense. I'm not sure if I completely agree with you just yet because I don't like the idea of trading Brandan Wright for Felton either. Before this season I had a hard time rooting for Wright because I was still mad at him because of the Jason Richardson trade. However, now it is much easier to see that Wright really has value in this league. He is going to make an impact on this team. Don't forget that it took both Monta Ellis and Andris Biedrins 3 years to really find their roles on this team and be successful. I think Wright has the same kind of potential. Along with Randolph, I think that he will became a very solid NBA starter one day soon. The main problem I have with Felton is that he isn't a pure point guard either. He is pretty much just another Jamal Crawford. He is best playing SG, not PG. So how exactly does this solve any of our current problems? I say the best thing to do right now is to wait until Monta Ellis returns and see what he is capable of doing because if it turns out that he can't play the point at all, then the Warriors will find themselves with 3 undersized SGs (Ellis, Crawford, Felton) and still no real PG. Also, Felton comes from another losing team (just like Crawford), so expecting him to turn things around is definitely asking too much. Letting Baron Davis go was a bad decision, but making more and more bad decisions is only going to hurt this team more.

Awful. Felton at his best is barely better than Jamaal Tinsley at his peak. You do not trade promising bigs for smalls. Everyone knows that....except Rowell/Riley/Nellie. If this happens then I will disavow my allegiance to the W's and start watching WSOP reruns and not the W's.

If its part of a package to get Maggette out of here, I'm in.
