Corey Maggette: At shoot-around on Thursday at Oracle
Corey Maggette, who has missed the past four games because of an injured hamstring, said he'll try to give it a go tonight against the Detroit Pistons at Oracle.
That's the good news.
The bad news is that this injury doesn't really seem to be going anywhere.
"It's tough," Maggette said after Thursday's shoot-around at Oracle Arena. "I had this the last game of the season last year. And this is the same, I bumped it or tweaked it some.
"There's no rhyme or reason and there's no way to know when it's totally healed. It's all trial and error."
Maggette averaged 39 minutes per game over the first four games, but he said he'll likely play fewer minutes than that tonight.
Warriors coach Don Nelson agreed, saying he'd likely monitor and limit Maggette's minutes.
Maggette did practice on Wednesday, scrimmaging with the Warriors' second unit. On Thursday, he got about 20 minutes of extra shooting in after shoot-around.
Maggette said he doesn't have any extra motivation about coming back now, considering the Warriors play his former team, the Los Angeles Clippers, on Saturday.
Instead, Maggette said he and the Warriors medical staff targeted this game days ago.
So, tonight it will be.
"The wisest thing is to give it a shot and to make sure I don't go too hard, too many minutes here and there and look at it from that perspective"

I'm hoping that, "make sure I don't go too hard" means he'll make a pass or two.
