Larry Harris: Former general manager of Milwaukee Bucks
A few days ago, Warriors coach Don Nelson said he hadn't decided whether or not to add someone to his staff, in the wake of the firing of general manager Pete D'Alessandro.
Apparently, he's decided.
The Warriors have brought aboard former Milwaukee Bucks general manager Larry Harris.
He is the son of Del Harris, long-time NBA head coach, current assistant in Chicago and Don Nelson confidante.
It is unclear whether Larry Harris will join the Warriors' staff as a coach or as a member of the player personnel department.
Harris was the general manager of the Milwaukee Bucks from 2003 to 2008.

Warriors forward Al Harrington wasn't at practice on Monday. Nelson said Harrington is getting a second opinion on his back in Los Angeles.

Nelson also said he expects forward Corey Maggette to play Tuesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, although his minutes might be limited.
Maggette has missed the past three games with a hamstring injury.

Here's a trade I would love to see happen.
1.) Corey Maggette, Brandan Wright and Marcus Williams for Josh Howard and 2nd round pick
2.) Al, Marco, 2nd rounder for David Lee and Malik Rose (for Cap purposes).
My rationale is this: We upgrade at 2 positions PF and SF and shed salary.
1.) We get Josh Howard for Maggette who has a LONG contract and is always injured, and Josh Howard is making a bad name for himself so he may be available.
2.) We get a young David Lee at PF whom we can extend with $10 million shed from Al's contract.
We get rid of 3 young players, but they don't play as it is and Marcus Williams is a free agent at the end of the season.
Both those trades are horrible. Are fans really this blind? :-\
To the topic, is this a good move? I remember the Bucks being good in the late 90's early 00's. Is this the guy that traded Ray Allen for Gary Payton? wow.
There is a major coup going on in that front office!
Hey Matt,
Not sure how I feel about this Larry Harris guy yet, but change can be good. And speaking of change...
What do you think of this proposed trade? (I love Jack but I sure as heck hope they don't extend him)
Salary ratio in parenthesis via RealGM
Harrington (34.3)
Stack Jack (26.5)
MWill (4.7)
Total ratio: 65.5
for
Hedo (25.5)
Brian Cook (13)
Keith Bogans (9.5)
JJ Reddick (8)
Anthony Johnson (7.1)
2009 1st round draft pick (projects to be #20-24)
Total Ratio: 63.1
We do it to clear out the vets, add Hedo as a rental (expiring next season. Only making 6 mill this year and 7 mill next) and a draft pick. Bogans on his last year, JJ and Cook have one year left. Those 3 guys can rot on the bench and really serve as trade fill-ins. Johnson can serve as a valuable backup veteran point guard.
'08-'09 lineup
PF: Wright / Randolph
SF: Hedo / Buke
C: Biedrins / Turiaf
SG: Maggette / Beli
PG: Monta (when he comes back) / A. Johnson
Magic does it for the Eastern Finals push. They really ain't giving up much to get a whole lot in return. Jackson cancels out Hedo, in fact, Jackson would be very dangerous in Orlando next to 'Shard, Nelson and Howard. Al Harrington can excel next to Howard. Marcus Williams replaces Anthony Johnson. More swagger with Jack and Orlando could use a "playoff stud" like him
Harrington
Shard
Howard
Jackson
Nelson
Now that's an excellent starting 5 in the East. Not like they play Bogans, JJ or Cook much anyway. Just giving up Hedo, Johnson and a 1st rounder. All in all, very even trade IMO that benefits both teams going in different directions in different conferences.
Oh, and we'd have to cut Kurz and DeMarcus Nelson to clear up some roster space. What a shame...
Is he going to be an addition or a replacement for another possible firing?
Now we know who the next GM is going to be. Just cut the cord now. Mully is going to the Knicks. Announce it!!
You'd think Nellie'd get sick of being a loser. All those games and 2 Conference finals . . .
Larry Harris??? What a joke! He was terrible as a GM in Milwaukee and has never coached before. Glad to see nepotism is alive and well in Golden State!!!
For those of you that don't follow Bucks basketball, let me be the first to tell you that if he did not have to deal with Senator Kohl's meddling lawyers that team would have been much better. He will make your team much better. Believe it!
