Notes, quotes and observations from Saturday's 129-125 loss to the Bucks, starting with Brandon Jennings, who scored 29 points in the third quarter en route to becoming just the fifth rookie ever to score that many points in a game.

-- He joins Wilt Chamberlain, Rick Barry, Earl Monroe and Elgin Baylor as the only rookies to score at least 55 points in a game. Chamberlain, who did it three times, holds the all-time record at 58.

-- Jennings broke Chamberlain's record for fewest games before scoring 50 at the start of a career. This was Jennings' seventh career game. Chamberlain did it in his 8th.

-- Jennings, who turned 20 in September, is just the second player to score at least 50 before turning 21. LeBron James did it twice.

-- Jennings' 29 in the third were the most points ever scored in a quarter against the Warriors.

-- It's four points short of the NBA record for points in a quarter.

-- Jennings is the first rookie since Allen Iverson in 1997 to score 50 in a game.

-- Yes, Jennings is the player who committed to Arizona then skipped college all together and played a year in Europe before becoming eligible for the NBA draft.

-- Score by quarters: 0, 10, 29, 16.

-- Made his first 12 shots in the third quarter (missed his final shot with 5 seconds left in the quarter) and shot 21-of-34 for the game. Made 7-of-8 3-pointers and 6-of-8 free throws.

-- Entered the game averaging 20.7 points on 45.7 percent shooting from the field and 45.5 percent on 3-pointers.

-- Previous high was 32 points in the Bucks' last game against the Nuggets.

Brandon Jennings: "I just started getting in the groove and felt really good in the third quarter."

Don Nelson: "Holy smokes. I think that's probably the best rookie performance I've ever witnessed in thirty-some years of coaching. We tried to handle him every way possible really. He had quite a game."

Corey Maggette: "That was a great performance. ... He was something pretty special tonight."

Stephen Jackson: "Nobody has ever given me 55 points, and I didn't get 55 points scored on me. Somebody has got to man up and take that 55, and I'm not going to take it. I wasn't guarding him."

Meanwhile ...

-- Kelenna Azubuike fell to the floor at the 9:03 mark of the first quarter and had to be carted off with a patellar tendon injury. Azubuike's left knee appeared to give out on a drive to the basket, resulting in an ugly fall. The Warriors said Azubuike will not play in either of the team's two remaining games on the road trip and will return to the Bay Area on Sunday to meet with team doctors. At least one early report said he could be out 3-5 months.

-- In one lineup most Warriors fans, coaches and players could not have imagined seeing in any first quarter this year, Golden State had Stephen Curry, C.J. Watson, Acie Law, Stephen Jackson and Anthony Randolph on the floor at the end of the first quarter.

-- The Warriors had an 8-point lead at halftime thanks to 22-of-39 shooting. They couldn't have felt good, though, considering the Bucks shot 35.3 percent in the first half but were within striking distance thanks to a 14-1 edge in offensive rebounds and a 51-39 edge in shots taken. The scribble in my notebook: watch out if the Bucks start making shots.

-- Milwaukee made 15 of its first 16 shots in the third quarter and 18 of 21 in the frame for a 92-83 lead. Notebook: knew they would start making shots, but this is sick.

-- How hot were the Bucks? Jodie Meeks ended the quarter with a three-quarter court heave that upped the lead from six to nine. As it turns out, those were three huge points.

-- While Jennings and the Bucks were going crazy, the Warriors got caught up in the emotion and excitement and individual players took it upon themselves to try to match Jennings shot for shot. The Warriors ended up with 26 points in the third, their lowest-scoring quarter of the game.

-- After three starters played more than 40 minutes on Friday, none played more than 39 on Saturday. Jackson led the team in minutes and Watson was actually second. After scoring 19 points in 27 minutes Friday, Watson scored just 5 in 32 minutes Saturday.

-- Curry, who played only two and a half minutes on Friday, ended a string of six straight games in single digits with 14 points on Saturday, going 6-for-9 from the field and 2-for-2 on 3-pointers.

-- Anyone else think the Bucks' 7-foot center Andrew Bogut was celebrating just a little too much after scoring against the undersized Warriors? Bogut had 19 points and 11 rebounds in a mid-November game against the Warriors, who had 6-8 Corey Maggette matched up against him at times. Yet he was celebrating like they just clinched a playoff berth. It's kind of like watching the Yankees, who bought all the best players, celebrate winning a World Series. Don't go overboard when you're just doing what everyone expected.

-- "My team played well and competed so I was proud of the way we played," Nelson said. "We certainly had a chance at that one. I think we felt good about ourselves. We stayed in (the game), we were right there. We even had a one point lead late. No complaints about our guys and the way we played."

-- The Warriors shot 56.1 percent for the game and outscored the Bucks 42-37 in the fourth quarter.

Jackson's an Ass. No one puts 55 up on me. Its your team bonehead. You may of not been guarding him but he knocked a few down in your grill. And your homeboy Ellis was guarding him. You know your buddy who is concentrating on defense this year. Get these knuckleheads out of here!!!!!!!
