The Thanksgiving Holidays in Canada have passed but our friends to the south are just beginning to put together the trimmings for this great event.
The gravy that is definitely worth a try is the Vancouver locally made and famous NAAM Miso Gravy. It has a bit of a tangy taste to it and the texture is very thick. A little tip is to add some of the turkey juice and drippings from the roaster (that has all that great turkey fat and spice in it) to the gravy and the taste factor skyrockets.
You can find the NAAM Miso Gravy at Capers, Whole Foods and a variety of other grocery stores. If you don't have access to any of these stores in your area, here's a recipe similar to it, which was submitted by SparkPeople user MEGABOMB.
Ingredients:
4 Tbsp miso paste
2 cup veg bouillon
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 Tbsp sesame oil
1/8 cup apple cider vinegar
1/8 cup honey or maple syrup
2 tsp sambal olek (chili paste)
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 Tbsp grated ginger
1/4 cup flour
1/2 cup water
Directions:
Mix all ingredients except flour and water in a small saucepan. Heat on medium until just before boiling. Turn the heat down, mix the flour and water together well until smooth, then slowly add to the gravy while whisking gently. Continue to stir until the gravy reaches a good thickness, then serve.

Thank you! This is killer! I'm from Vancouver, but now live in California so I can't get Naam gravy, and was so delighted to find this recipe. It is one of my "creature comforts"!!! I sometimes add extra garlic, black pepper, tahini, and nutritional yeast for good hippie measure.
it's not gluten free, as it contains flour
