If you're a gluten-free vegetarian, then your experience of a barbecue might be to stand at the sidelines and fill up on coleslaw. With these burger recipes, that will no longer be necessary. Join the crowd, dig in and enjoy!
First, shown at left is the Italian bean burger, rich in the favorite flavors of that part of the world, and high in protein from the Borlotti beans it contains. The gluten-free vegetarian Italian bean burger is a great addition to any barbecue especially when served on a gluten-free seeded whole grain hamburger rollwith a side of Fiesta Casserole.
See the slideshow below for the Bombay Beastless™ Burger, also high in protein (and Indian spices) but, in addition, made with creamy eggplant as a secondary ingredient.
Also in the slldeshow is the Jakarta Beastless Burger™, for those who like Indonesian cuisine, with crunchy peanut butter as one of its protein sources.
These recipes as written are not vegan, since they do contain eggs, used as a binder. Egg-replacer products or flax seed whipped with water might work as a substitute if you are vegan.
LOCAL NOTES: Trader Joe is an inexpensive resource for nuts and nut butters. Met Foods often has rock-bottom prices on produce. Gluten-free flours are always available at Whole Foods.
