The University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center is offering their annual Free Blood Screening and Ask the Expoerts Panel on October 10, 2009 from 8:30am to Noon.
There is no charge to be screened, but registration is required. Registration opens September 1, 2009 and spaced fill rapidly. The event sells out every year and people fly in from around the country to attend the free screening and panel discussion.
If you are currently NOT on a gluten-free diet and have a close family member with biopsy-confirmed celiac disease, you may be eligible for the free screening. Others that may be eligible include those that have persistent gastrointestinal symptoms, if you or a close family member have type 1 Diabetes, if you have have a related autimminue condition such as rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren's Syndrome or Addison's Disease, or your if you have chronic fatigue, osteopenia/osteoporosis or Down Syndrome. The Ask the Experts Panel is open to the public from 10:30-11:30 on October 10, 2009. Bring your questions for a Q&A session with world renowned experts in Celiac Disease. Free samples and information will be available begining at 8:30am.
