Even mild forms of gluten intolerance can make selecting a restaurant difficult. Many local restaurants don’t have a gluten free menu posted online, or even have a website. It is easy for people with gluten intolerance to get stuck in a rut and only visit the few restaurants they know are “safe.”
Thanks to the efforts of the creators of Gluten Free Registry, the process of deciding where to eat can be a completely pain free experience. This user friendly directory contains more than 15,000 listings of gluten free friendly businesses. They include listings for restaurants, coffee houses, bakeries and grocers worldwide.
You can search by country, state or city. The shear number of listings worldwide makes travel planning easy as well. Chances are, Gluten Free Registry will have a listing for wherever you plan to go. A search of Kansas City yielded 35 entries, this search did not include Kansas or the Metro Area. The state of Missouri has a whopping 390 listings.
There is no membership required to use Gluten Free Registry, simply go to the site and begin your search. Each listing offers an address, phone number, rating, customer reviews and links for maps, directions and websites. The entire site is incredibly detailed and easy to use.
According to the About Us page, Gluten Free Registry was built and privately funded with two goals in mind. Goal number one: To provide an easy resource for people with gluten intolerance. Goal number two: To encourage restaurants to offer a gluten free menu by providing them with incentive through exposure. To achieve these goals, they obtain a minute income through a general store and online guides. They do accept donations to help further the cause, as most of the registry’s expenses are still privately funded.
Gluten Free Registry encourages feedback from users with questions or comments. They are also accepting new business listings that meet their standards.
