The company GreatNonprofits is hosting an online event to recognize charities providing food and shelter to those in need.

San Francisco, November 2009- The 2009 GreatNonprofits Food and Shelter Awards (www.greatnonprofits.org/foodandshelter) will recognize the top-rated nonprofits providing food and shelter to those in need. During November and December, organizations that get reviews on GreatNonprofits will receive exposure to potential donors via the GreatNonprofits Top-Rated Food and Shelter Nonprofits list and via Guidestar, the premier site for philanthropic research on the Web.
The contest asks clients, donors, volunteers, and board members to write reviews of these nonprofits. All reviews will be automatically visible on GuideStar.org.
“Reviews show the real human impact of a nonprofits and raise the visibility and credibility of those organizations,” says GreatNonprofits CEO Perla Ni. “This will help highly-rated nonprofits attract more support and volunteers.”
GreatNonprofits is a nonprofit Web site where people can post reviews of nonprofit organizations, similar to Yelp or TripAdvisor.
The Awards are launched in partnership with Care2, Feeding America, National Alliance to End Homelessness, National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth, and Guidestar. Contest Deadline: December 22nd.
