Here's a handsome new book from Kathy Casey, Seattle's reigning culinary queen, full of recipes for cocktails and appetizers just in time for summer.
More than 100 recipes, plenty of photos, and an infectious sense of fun. I'm not sure how many readers will go to the trouble of making the Luxury Mary Mix, given the number of bottled preparations, but it's not that difficult to make your own (ya gotta have horseradish). As for my favorite cocktail, the Negroni, Kathy's version includes grapefruit juice (heresy!). Still, her tastebuds are in the right place, so it's worth a shot.
For those with short memories, this is one busy lady. She no longer writes her Dishin' column in the Seattle Times, but her Dish D'Lish café at SeaTac remains the best alternative to airline food. Her line of specialty foods is widely available, and her research facility, Kathy Casey Food Studios and Liquid Kitchen, is moving to larger quarters on the Ballard waterfront.

Thank you for this article. I've always been pleased with Dish D'Lish and had no idea Kathy Casey had a new book out. The title of her book sounds like this is the next addition to my cookbook collection. Thanks!
