Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart should fans back off?
There is no question Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have a lot of fans. The Twilight Saga stars can’t go anywhere without a group of fans magically appearing within minutes. Add in all the Pattinson, Stewart and Twilight fan sites and you have 24/7 coverage of their lives.
While fans may find following Pattinson’s and Stewart’s every move on and off the set, fun or amusing or even exciting: how do the stars feel about them?
It appears they don’t like it. They don’t like the fact that fans are that obsessed and both Pattinson and Steward have made multiple negative comments about their fans as well as stated they are, at times, scared of them. Stewart recently stated her opinion of her fans:
I'm scared.
I feel like I could go out in disguise but they would still recognize my feet or the shape of my leg.
They'd say, 'Hey, she looks about right.'
And they would just bag me. It's scary."
Pattinson has been a lot more vocal of his dislike for the fans, especially the hard-core Twilight fanatics. But then again, his life is the one most affected by them: in New York he was hit by a taxi while trying to run away from screaming fans. In a long interview, Pattison also spoke of how his life has been changed by his fans:
I can’t remember what my normal life is like.
The biggest challenge is coping with the crowds; I am a quiet, private person.
It’s strange….. Walking down the street comes with screaming
Because of internet stuff and Twitter, there will be a crowd if you are in a place for more than half an hour.
I’ve learned never to stay in the same place for more than 20 minutes.”
There may be truth to the rumors that Pattinson asks for protection while filming as he stated he prefers it when there are big crowds only because that assures there will be security on hand. Then adds, “But when you are by yourself, your paranoia runs and runs”
So, the question is should the fact that Twilight fans seem to be nothing but a pain to Pattinson and Stewart be enough of a reason for fans to back off?
Or, are Pattinson and Stewart complaining about the very people who are making them a success and therefore be happy they have any fans at all?

Sadly it won't be enough - these crazed fans are so pathetic, chasing teens and Young adults simply because they play a movie character? think about that - it is so sad. When they look back hopefully they will see what fools they were, the actors themselves find them pathetic! LMAO
I agree it sucks that they cant seem to go anywhere these day without being hunted doen. but it doesnt sound to me like they dont like their fans just the fact that they again hunt them down like animals.....im pretty sure their appreciative and like them but some of them do need to calm down a bit..lol
I feel bad for them. I wish people would leave them alone and go follow a hobo or something. That would truly be pretty interesting. But Rob and Kris are people just like their fans and the paparazzi following them.
They love their fans, that's clear to see and I also think that the 'Twilight Saga' cast are some of the most grounded group of young actors but they are very private and need their privacy ....lets not forget they are very young ....I would be frightened !
cazz how do they love their fans? They don't willing pose for pictures with their fans they don't sing many autograghs and Rob won't even come out at most of the interviews - he didn't at the teen choice awards.
There is no love there for their fans. Now is it justified? Probably! People following them into bathrooms, reporters following them into restaurants, fans staking out their hotels yea I'd say it is a bit nutty.
But this will blow over as the series will end and their star power will fade, let's face it they aren't movie stars - they are playing a single character fans can't seem to seperate them from.
I have heard Rob say so many negative things about how his life has been ruined by the fans, how he can't do anything without them screaming, how the fans are scary and how they creep him out and they are all too young or too old for his taste.
I would prefer to hear him say You know I love my fans, they make us the money - without them we'd be nothing!
No he doesn't do twitter because he already talks to his friends - if that isn't a fan snub what is?
Geez, give them a break! As always, these quotes are "pieces" of what they've said....not the complete thoughts behind the comments. I don't think they're unappreciative of the fans, I think they're both very introverted, very quiet people and are just a bit overwhelmed....especially poor Rob! He can't set foot anywhere without someone cataloging his every move...how he maintains any type of pleasant attitude is beyond me....unfortunately, Kristen typically seems rather edgy..to me. Although I like to read the stories and would LOVE to see his beautiful self in person especially, I would hope I'd have enough presence of mind (can't necessarily swear to it) to give him his space...haven't ever seen him in person...would probably be too overwhelmed to say or do anything. I don't think he's being negative but, as he does and often is one of the things we love most about him, is being completely open and honest and now he's going to get bashed for it. What a fickle bunch of fans!
There is a time and place for everything and these two as well as any celebrity should be allowed to have their private moments.
Events such as Comic-con, mall appearances and the Twilight conventions are the places that are designed for the fans to interact/meet with the celebrities. Outside of that they are human and no person (not even Twilight fans) would want to be followed 24/7 in a manner that deprives them of some semblance of a normal life.
This is a job that unfortunately has put them in a sea of adoration where apparently many people have difficulty with the lines between reality and theatrics. Learn the difference and respect the actors for the art and skill of their craft and the places they take you to through the course of their work. Then go home.... reflect and admire but try not to obsess.
Take the feelings you walk away with from a great theatrical moment and allow them to permeate your life in way that benefits you.

you took kristen's quote totally out of context, she said this jokingly about wanting to check out the demo floor at comiccon, but too scared all the fans will recognize her.
the fans have been absolutely psychotic with them. people just need to give them some breathign room. You don't need to see them in person, and you don't need their autograph. Enjoy the movies, and pictures of them online, but stop hunting them down like freaks and then tweeting where they are 24/7.
you are just as bad anyone else with the totally loaded title. Asking for fans to be a little more accomodating is hardly the same as saying they aren't fans of their fans. Stop twisting out of context quotes because you're too lazy to actually doing an accurate article. Robert and Kristen deserve a break from their fans, but the media also needs to give them a break without sensationalizing every little thing they say.
Paul-you're totally wrong. Both of them signed autographs at the TCAs. All they did was avoid the red carpet because both of them had just shacked up at the Chateau Marmont a couple days prior-obviously they didn't want to answer questions. But Kristen did do interview backstage and there's a bunch of youtube vids of them signing and posing with fans. Give me a break-if anything Robert and Kristen are too accomodating with signing autographs in public.
Kristy, you're a part of the cycle. There's a weird back tag teaming going on between fans and the media. The fans want Robsten. The media wants hits. So the media and Fans whip eachother into a frenzy over Robsten, working in tandem to create this ridiculously vicious cycle of robsten overload. Fans AND the media need to take a chill pill. It's too much.
I think the problem is the paps. If they wouldn't follow them around, stake them out, and get their schedules they wouldn't feel like their being stalked. If it was just fans who approach them I think it would be different.
I think people are forgetting that they have done numberous interviews and signings for their fans. Also, this came upon them very fast and it is overwhelming. You have to admit there are some very scary fans out there. If Summit would schedule more interviews and signings before New Moon comes out it would help to satisfy the publics need to see them.
I think the "fans" need to ask themselves if they would like someone stalking them at work, the bathroom, and camping out in front of their house. If they would like people approaching them in gangs and taking pictures of them only to post them and critize them. I think Rob had it right in one of his first interviews about people knocking you down as fast as you come up. Their great kids and I wish them luck.
TBH,if someone was stalking your every move and go for autographs WHILE YOU ARE PEEING...hell, you would be scared too.I`m sure that both Rob and Kristen know the difference between stalkers/obsessive fans who dont respect their personal space and "normal" fans.They have no problems with the latter group,so lets not generalize entire fandom here. And lets be honest, screaming at someone "because you love them SFM" just isnt the way to show you appreciation.JS.
surely these two actors are the most ungreatfull actors I have ever come across. They don't appreciate their fans and they keep calling heir fans "twilight fans" I have not heard Rob say even for once that he appreciates his fans. people express so much love for him but he totally gives nothing back! Taylor is a very young person, but he understands what saying thank you to fans means. I would wish people collectively boycott their films, Kristen is not even good at her craft -she owes "twilight fans" even a word of appreciation for putting her on the same level as actors who are very good and who have sweated for years.... And Rob was a London destitute before all this. They should understand that these fans are only for a period and it works well for them to get on to the ladder without lifting a finger and enables them to get a fat pay check also excellent for their career. Im kinda half and half on that..I think its kinda messed up to talk trash about the fans..but at the same time I think its also crazy for ppl to scream and go wild when they see pattinson and stewart. I mean come on..that makes us other fans look crazy and lame too! Not everyone is like that.
But at the same time thats the price you pay though for becoming famous..every actor and actress has to deal with goofy stuff like that. You learn to deal with it or you quit.

all i have to say is that rob and kristen do not hate their fans in anyway. they like them and do appreciate them but enough is enough. there are fans out there who go to far. i remember my brother and i going to a twilight party being held at hottopic and we went as alice and emmett. some of the teenagers there went overboard screaming and asking for pictures. i made sure to tell them we weren't the characters but just because we looked like them they were going crazy. one even threatened my little brother because he was standing next to the edward cardboard cut out that she won in a contest. after the incident in new york with robert i don't blame the other cast members to feel uncomfortable. and honestly, the casts do not make millions when they do movies. you can even look up the interview where robert says that he doesn't make millions portraying edward. it's enough money but definitely not millions, please do some research. they get stressed like we do at work or at school.

How can you blame them for being scared or paranoid! I can't imagine not being able to go and do what I wanted without being mobbed or scrutinized. No matter what a person does for a living, they don't deserve the kind of maniacal frenzy some of the obsessed fans have created. I am fascinated with both Rob and Kristen's careers but would never even think in my wildest fantasies of touching either one of them, or stalking them for that matter. They should be left alone to live their personal lives in peace. If they're seen on the street, no one should ever try to touch them for any reason. I believe that's called assault and battery!

I don't think any of us would be fan of people that act the way their fans do either! Nobody says they hate their fans, it just says they aren't fans of them and I agree. I am a big fan of Rob's, me and my friends are going to to Vancouver to try and see them but we will be respectful - I don't want to come off like a carazed nut!!

Kristen and Robert are normal people except the fact that they star in the biggest saga ever. Just because they are on tv doesn't mean people should know everything they are doing every minute of the day. I don't blame them for avoiding the fans because some fans are totally psycho! Rob got hit by a taxi trying to get away from a crowd. How would you feel if you were an overnight sensation and flocks of people follow you everywhere Kristen couldn't even go to the hospital without people following her and attacking the truck she was in. I DID see them months ago and Taylor signed my book. He was very nice. robert waved at us a Kristen literly covered her face and ran past us!
We were in the area for my cousin's wedding so we weren't stalking them or anything but there were groups of people that actually were camping out for days!!!!!

Just because they are famous, dont mean that they should not recieve respect... its common decency to show respect, regardless of their career's. Let me break this for you guys. we are in 2009, there are thousands of artists struggling to make it. most do not get this opportunity because they are simply unknown - they maybe very good - ten years back there were less artists and therefore easier to get casted or be recognized. now with the power of internet people prefer watching hacked films at their desk tops, this means that most artists or actors are rendered jobless, or have flop films or simply unrecognised films which end up making less cash. BUT if you are lucky enough, you can tap cash just by moving around b/c people love you and will go at lengths to support you. Of course as an Artist you have to be aware that people can project their fantasies on to you - so if you want to earn cash, try to learn how to cope - The beatles did that and they came in quite young - so why cant Rob and Kristen?

it may be true that actors don't have as many financial problems to worry about but the average person who worries about money doesn't live in constant fear that they can be killed or hurt any minute by a crazy fan like john lennon.
living in constant fear for one's life is a very hard way to live life indeed. and brad pitt's fans never even came close to the mania surrounding robert pattinson.

Oh boo hoo poor little Kristen and Robert - millions of $$$$ should buy them as much protection as they want. I would prefer to see them say more kinder things - I have seen Robert make unkind remarks about his fans over and over and been really insulting to the twilightmoms. i repeat yet again they DO NOT make millions when making a movie. protection is provided by with whichever company they are working with. with twilight its summit. rockstars get body guards as well through their companies. and the whole thing about they don't bother to take pics or sign autographs for fans is all bull. they do so otherwise there wouldn't be fans walking around with the signatures or uploading online their pictures. you get tired somedays. a favorite band of mine didn't come out for signings after the concert but it was because they were really tired. they were stressed and they apologized for it but we didn't complain as fans because we understood them which many others have to do with these actors.
This article is plan rubbish..their quotes are taken out of context for one thing. They don't hate their fans. These are just two people that have been thrown into the spotlight because of the success of a film. They are very gracious to their fans. And I saw several comments about how we shouldn't feel sorry for them because they make lots of money. Come on, what does making money have to do with privacy. People should respect them and stop hounding them everywhere they go. I feel really sorry for Rob. He is such a sweet and down to earth person. Fame shouldn't mean you lose your privacy. I just hope he doesn't hate coming to the states because of all the crazy fans.
