Celebrity disc jockey ‘DJ AM’ was found dead in his New York City apartment: he was 36 years old.

N.Y.P.D. Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said there was no apparent evidence of foul play but the medical examiner has not yet released a cause of death.

DJ AM whose actual name is Adam Goldstein had publically spoke about his past addictions to Ecstasy crack cocaine and other drugs. While he had claimed he was drug-free for years, a People article, has a police source stating there were prescription drugs found in his apartment.

Goldstein’s publicist confirmed the death and released the following request:

The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear.

Out of respect for his family and loved ones, please respect their privacy at this time.”

Less than a year ago DJ AM narrowly escaped death: he was a passenger in an airplane which skidded off of a South Carolina runway and burst into flames. Goldstein and Travis Barker were the only survivors.

You would think the airplane crash would have had a profound impact on his life to stop the drugs and get it together...guess not. Addiction eventually kills. So sad.
