Funny or not? Jon Stewart mocks Glenn Beck's appendicitis (watch)

AP Photo Evan Agostini

From the man who gave America the profound analysis of Glenn Beck back in 2006 comes more humor-- this time: on the topic of Glenn Beck's emergency appendectomy. It was Comedy Central's Jon Stewart of the Daily Show who once said of Beck:

"Finally, a guy who says what people who aren't thinking are thinking." -- Jon Stewart

Apparently, now Stewart's the one who has been quite busy thinking about Glenn Beck.

On his November 5th show, Jon Stewart devoted an entire segment to parodying Glenn Beck, from his facial expressions to his controversial explanations of government, politics, and corruption. In short, Jon Stewart addressed the satirical question posed by the Glenn Beck Examiner in a November 5th article: Glenn Beck's appendicitis, was it a conspiracy?

If nothing else, Stewart does display an acute knowledge of not just Glenn Beck's mannerisms and chalk board, but also of the type of issues which Beck has identified as plaguing our nation today: ACORN, Van Jones, NEA, etc.

Clearly, Jon Stewart and other "non-thinking" people have been paying close attention.

Stewart was satirizing Beck's creepy and manic diatribes about the many "conspiracies" that are supposedly ripping this country asunder. And, I might add, he did it brilliantly. Beck is a clown, kudos to Mr. Stewart for bringing this guy down from his pedestal!

This is a perfect example of how ridiculous "journalism" has become. We get to read an article by Robbin Swad that regurgitates what Jon Stewart did while mocking Glenn Beck. News pundits shouldn't be the news. The fact that there is something called the "Glenn Beck Examiner" is absolutely ridiculous. How much does this lady get paid?

kept waiting to laugh and bailed at 2:14 Meanwhile, keep laughing. Anita Dunn explained Obama's media control (of course absent the mindless adoration)

"Very rarely did we communicate through the press anything that we didn't absolutely control," said Dunn.

"One of the reasons we did so many of the David Plouffe videos was not just for our supporters, but also because it was a way for us to get our message out without having to actually talk to reporters," said Dunn, referring to Plouffe, who was Obama's chief campaign manager.

"We just put that out there and made them write what Plouffe had said as opposed to Plouffe doing an interview with a reporter. So it was very much we controlled it as opposed to the press controlled it," Dunn said

Glenn Beck is nothing more than a Grand Wizard of the KKK preaching hate and helping to divide this country instead of bringing it together. John Stewart is the man and portrayed GB perfectly; I passed this video on to my buddies for a laugh. Glenn Beck is not journalism and what scares me the most is that people out there really do watch him with serious focus and take on his wacked out, creepy, paranoid, un-realistic feelings about issues and the government. Down with Glenn beck!

I'm an admitted Glenn Beck fan, he has done many great things. Having said that, I found the humor in this. Jon Stewart's comedic timing and delivery were near perfect, and most of the content was great satire. I don't watch Jon Stewart's show, nor do I think I will I ever make the time to do so, but he did well on this one. Life is too short to be offended by things such as these. There are other things that he could have made light of that I would have had a problem with, i.e. Glenn's family, religion, personal struggles, etc. I'm sure Stwart's producers made sure that Glenn was on a clear path to full recovery before putting up this bit. It would be potential professional suicide otherwise. He capitalized on a very popular subject on both political sides right now: Glenn Beck.

its a joke. Back, et al, are on the "news" networks, presenting opinion as news / facts. Stewart, a comedian (our first hint that it is a joke) is on the Comedy Channel (our second hint that its a joke).

The only reason I can see to be upset with Stewart is if you fail to recognize that beck is first, foremost, and always, and entertainer catering to extremely paranoid individuals who get an odd satisfaction of believing that everything is designed to "get them." Otherwise, you see its joke.

Laugh or don't. But, either way, move on.

Glenn Beck is a moron. He should be held responsible for the screwball pot he is always stirring. Pay attention, those of you who watch him, this guy is dangerous and really should be arrested for treason. He is an actor, nothing more, and a liar as well. What his show does is entertain the darker side of some because it is not news. what is dangerous about the lunatic is that people take what he says as truth. He is a lying, hate mongering BS artist. What is wrong with people that so many listen to his rant and believe it is gospel? Just how stupid are we becoming as a society?

It was pretty funny. It just shows that people take cable news too seriously. MSNBC is a leftist ideological choir preacher and conversely FOX is a rightist ideological outlet. They reinforce people's pre-concieved notions about issues throughout society you only have to watch Bill O'Reilly to get a big kick out of his "Culture Warrior" segment. Even though I don't always agree with the maddow, olbermann, matthews crowd I at least have some faint of respect for MSNBC because they don't have the motto fair and balanced on their selling points. I mean now the left and right are politicizing the tragedy at Ft.Hood, I mean F&$K!!! I thought that would be one bipartisan thing we could agree on but thats right we live in America. It's getting old quickly I'm so sick of it. As for the Beck crowd I ask you to take a goddam chill pill. Either Obama is so incompetent as a President and couldn't do what you theorize he wants to do to this country or he isn't and what you fear just won't eventuate

I'm sure we'll hear that if Beck was in the Canadian health care system you know that "SOCIALIST" country that helps us fight wars (apparently conservative principles go out the window in a time of war funny that one) that he would have nearly or been left to die because of it.

Neo-Conservatism does not exist worldwide only this country where it is represented by the brightest of brightest morons possible. Governments worldwide mainly the center-right governments practice Neo-liberalism, the Canadian Liberal Party, Australian Liberal Party, Tories in UK etc. You want to know what Obama intends to make the USA on there's you fuc#ing answer you ahhhhhhh. If I hear one more person say well thats it America is doomed we'll have no more freedom left i'm going to start collecting guns and start elephant hunting if you know what I mean.

The only freedom you have lost since Obama was elected is the right to not have a black President. Reagans boom equlas a fraud guys MOVE ON!

Cyros, it's time to leave the cult buddy. What Glenn Beck states are merely connections which he then sensationalizes as some sort of radical conspiracy. yes Obama has union support but that is not radical and a threat to freedom you tool. The proof he offers is so sparse it defies belief.

If you think you are intelligent watching Glenn Beck you have some problems bud. The WH isn't going to come to level of a TV show and call him to calm people down why would they when it just makes you guys look like kooks. How have you not figured that out yet good god man! I must be conspiring with the Marxists in our society to attack you huh, do yourselves a favour an relax guys! apart from the fiscal situations our country is going to stay the same we have debt of course Obama didn't want to do it but that was the economic advice of liberals, centrists and even thought they won't admit it conservatives. If you like Beck that's fine but like he even said don't take it as gospel. Peace brother

Whilst its clear that Jon Stewart is directly ripping off Glenn Beck. One could argue that Stewart is plagiarizing Stephen Colbert who is a living parody of Bill O'Reilly. Stephen Colbert was the first to reappropriate Beck's signature line into facetiously "fearing for Glenn Beck". Colbert also established the 10/31 project before Stewart developed his 11/3 project.

So what is the over and under that Stephen Colbert takes a shot at Stewart for ripping him off? Colbert taking a shot a Stewart for copying his original parody of Beck whilst originally being a parody of O'Reilly. As a fan of meta, that might make for an interesting gag.

Wow! Glenn has spooked the progressives hasn't he? I do not watch Glenn much if any. I find a lot of what he says though at least interesting. I understand why the liberal left and/or the Obama administration are fearful of his rants. He is very dangerous to their agenda and they wish to mock him to try to minimize his influence. Unfortunately, it will backfire. This president is intolerant of opposing views and will mount a media campaign through his minions to attempt to discredit any who oppose his policies. The progressives will get what they want for the next year or so. Of course you need to tack on another $1.4 trillion to the debt by this time next year. I suppose they want that too.

You have made quite possibly the most telling statement exposing the truth of moronic liberals like you and your ilk. You've watched Beck a blazing 4 times, and formed an opinion based on watching a show 4 times.
I'm sure you probably believe Keith Olbertwit to be the next Edward Murrow. I think Olberdouche should shake pom poms over his head when speaking of B. Hussein Obamao because he's such a Kool-ade-drinking cheerleader, but I formed my opinion by watching Countdown numerous times. I guess 4 times is enough for you to come to the conclusion "Beck won't fall to his knees and worship the Obamessiah, so Beck must be EVIL!"
