The ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives will host a retrospective of photographer Mark A. Vieira's Hollywood glamour photography in its West Hollywood, California, gallery October 2 through December 26.
"We're honored to be able to showcase one of our community's finest artists ..." says Joseph Hawkins, Ph.D, president of ONE Archives' Board of Directors. "His work uniquely captures the glamour of old Hollywood."
Vieira, an expert on Hollywood glamour photography, uses photographer George Hurrell's signature techniques that captured photos of legendary film stars during the 1930s and 1940s.
Vieira's uses a large format camera, incandescent lights, full negative retouching, and fiber-base paper. His portraits are created with Hurrell's own 18-inch Verito lens in the historic Granada Buildings, where Hurrell had his original studio.
Incorporated in 1952, ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives is one of the oldest ongoing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) organizations in North America.
The organization fosters acceptance of sexual and gender diversity through support of worldwide education and research about LGBT heritage and experience. ONE collects, preserves, documents, studies, and communicates LGBT history, challenges, and aspirations and with more than two million artifacts is believed to house the largest collection of LGBT memorabilia in the world.
The ONE Archives Gallery & Museum is located at 626 N. Robertson Blvd., West Hollywood, California.
