Avalon Media, publishers of LOTL, a long running gay and lesbian magazine in the Southern Hemisphere, has announced the December 2009 launch of a new magazine called BOUND. They are calling it “the world's first international magazine for lesbians and women with a connection to the gay and lesbian community.”
The publication will be a lifestyle monthly with content drawn from around the globe. With the tag line "Different culture, same lifestyle", BOUND will target female readers with in-depth features, celebrity interviews, travel editorial, fashion and lifestyle news. The publication, available on newsstands and through subscription, has a pool of contributors from around the world.
“I believe BOUND is a first in the world of magazine publishing," says Merryn Johns, who has been the editor of LOTL for the past 10 years and will lead BOUND. “I do not know of another high quality, glossy lesbian magazine in this format with a commitment to a mix of content, and aimed at lesbian readers from around the world.” Johns is based in New York City, and her creative team is in Sydney, Australia.
“Our approach to content is driven by the desire to feature different cultures living the same lifestyle,” says Managing Director and Publisher, Silke Bader. “There is a place on the newsstand for a publication that caters to an affluent, sophisticated lesbian reader with an interest in diverse cultures.”
