Ever wanted to belt your favorite tune in front your friends and even more strangers with a chance of winning $5000 in cash prizes? Then you should be singing in Dallas Tavern Guild’s Voice of Pride 2009 contest. The Voice of Pride contest has been one of the most anticipated events in the Dallas community during the Pride month of June since 2005. Fifteen preliminary events are held this month starting Wednesday, June 3rd at Sue Ellen's, 3903 Cedar Springs Road. From there elimination events and semi-finals happen in July with the final performance for the win in August. The winner gets $3,000 plus a trip for two to Hawaii courtesy of Delta Airlines and Orbitz Gay Travel.
The rules, which can be found in full at the Dallas Tavern Guild website, state that the competition is open to all live vocalists. It will be open to persons who perform live professionally and only exclude those who are currently making a living as a singer. It does not exclude those who have performed professionally in the past. It only excludes those who currently earn their living by singing.
So become the star you’ve always wanted to be. Download the rules and application at www.dallasprideparade.com. At least in this contest, unlike American Idol, you never have to wonder who’s gay.

Hate to burst your bubble Richard but this contest has a bad reputation for being fixed!Just ask any bartender Who has not been chosen to judge or regular bar ho. just check out photos of the finalist its the same people over and over again and most of them are karaoke DJ,s who have to sing as part of the job! people trying out gets less every year to the point where no one loses.plus judges are picking there fellow coworkers ! Roundup BAR for example.EVEN LESS PEOPLE ARE SHOWING UP TO WATCH THE CONTEST.Last years winner didn't even show up for the the finals and he was obligated too. He should return all the money and prizes, he broke the contract. Lets get some real judges and no more karaoke DJ's.For 2010.
Don't waste your time competing in this rigged contest for karaoke deejays of the roundup...DON'T believe me?
Jason Huff,.Matt Brewer,Robert O,Blake Askew,Mel Arizpe are all Deejays at the Roundup....Thanks to roundup bartenders who also act as judges..... Check out the videos of the competition throughout the years on youtube.
They really suck! They should have never shown video of the finals it just proves my point and everyone else who feels the same...Dallas is very clickish and boring! Stay home instead.
