Author and publisher, Tuan N’Gai, is in Dallas this week to challenge African-American gay people to collectively speak out against homophobia especially within black religious institutions.  The event is called the Silence Equals Consent tour, which is also the mantra of the organization and website, Operation Rebirth.com, which N’Gai helped build in 2004. With the current attention on the American Christian influence in the Uganda anti-gay legislation as recently highlighted on ABC's Nightline, the timing couldn't have been more perfect.

Tuan has been featured on BET's Oh Drama!, as  well known black LGBT websites like JasmyneCannick.com, Rod 2.0 Beta, and Mandrake Society Radio podcast.

His Dallas engagements will take place at 6pm on Friday, March 19, at the Resource Center of Dallas, 2701 Reagan Street in Dallas, and also Sunday, March 21, at 2pm, at the Living Faith Covenant Church, 2725 Colorado Blvd in Dallas. Both of his books, Will I Go to Heaven? The Black Gay Dilemma and Little Brown Boy's Blues will be available for purchase at both events.

“Silence Equals Consent isn’t a battle cry against the black church or the community at large”, Tuan says. “It’s an effort to call attention to the issues that have divides us in hopes to bring about unity and healing. We need to learn to focus on what makes us the same, and learn to see our differences as something beautiful.”

Tuan is currently booking more workshops, speaking engagements, and book signings with churches and civil groups throughout the U.S. To schedule an event in your area, contact tuan@guysjohnson.com
