On the Billboard 200, Michael Buble debuts at #1 (CD COVER by Reprise records 2009). His feat isn’t just selling 132,000 albums to top the chart, but his album was released on Friday, which means he sold these many in three days! Not too bad for a debut that also happens on the Wal-Mart only Kiss album Sonic Boom which sold 108,000.
Michael becomes second only to Avril Lavigne (Under My Skin 2004, The Best Damn Thing 2007), and first for a male artist, as a Canadian artist to have two #1 albums in the 2000s. Shania Twain, Celine Dion, Alanis Morissette, Nickleback and Nelly Furtado have all had one #1 in the 2000s.
The Backstreet Boys did debut in the top 10 after all, at #9 with 42,000 copies. This marks them for their 8th top 10 in a row (which includes all of their albums except their first international release which hit #12 in the US).
Britney Spears sets another record for herself (read here) with her new #1 single “3”.
Owl City’s “Fireflies” enters the top 10 at #9. This becomes the only top 10 entry for the one-man band. A nice achievement since the song was released in early summer.
Jay Z’s The Blueprint 3 becomes only the fifth album released in 2009 to reach sales of over 1 million. He follows the Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack, Eminem’s Relapse, Black Eyed Peas’ The E.N.D. and U2’s No Line on The Horizon.
King of Leon’s Only By the Night becomes the #3 best-selling album in digital history with 468,000 downloads. First is Colplay’s Viva La Vida or Death to All of his Friends with 749,000, second is Twilight soundtrack with 524,000), and fourth now is Taylor Swift’s Fearless with 467,000.
Kelly Clarkson’s “Already Gone” finally makes it to the top 20 at #19. This marks her third top 20 entry from the same album (and one spot higher than last single “I Do Not Hook Up” which peaked at #20) and her 11th top 20 entry.

It's about time. Already Gone is an awesome song. It should be #1 by now. What is wrong with people? They buy crap.
I tottally agree with you Chriss!
Me three! This song is so amazing and I only hope it climbs into AT LEAST the top 10. It's sad that ballads rarely have success on the charts anymore. Pure pop-dance-hiphop-club trash!
I agree with all of you.
