Take your best gal-pal (even your boyfriend or hubbie will do if they are down for an incredible sensory experience) to an inventive evening devoted to
modern Indian cuisine influenced by the flavors of the Spice Route, paired with contemporary India-inspired artwork. This exotic evening will provide a feast for all your senses with no jet-lag.
Cuisine and Art Meet
Who: Taj Campton Place San Francisco celebrates the cuisine of Executive Chef Srijith Gopinathan and the works of Bay Area artist Namita Kapoor, presented by Meyerovich Gallery, San Francisco.
What: Executive Chef Srijith Gopinathan creates a subcontinent spice-influenced menu with inspirations from his home back in southern India, using classic French technique and California ingredients. The results are dishes that are both aromatic and robust in flavor. Sample menu attached.
Artist Namita Kapoor creates modern works that are a hybrid of Western media and Indian craft, ornament, and symbolism by applying acrylic and oil media in between, and on top of, a variety of materials from Indian sari fabric, mirrors and sequins, and henna tattoo prints to kitschy images of Indian myths, Bollywood posters and vintage commercial advertisements.
This blend of food and art with its sensual aromas and tastes and bright colors and textures brings a fresh approach to looking at Indian influences in the Bay Area.
