Paranormal investigators record orb attack in abandoned hotel/nursing home

Over its long history, the Hotel Rieger has also served as a nursing home.

In Nomine Paranormal Research (INPR), based in Fort Wayne, IN, recently participated in an investigation of the Hotel Rieger in Sandusky, OH with Erie Paranormal Research. INPR is a group of professional paranormal investigators formed to advance the knowledge of paranormal activity. Through the use of state-of-the-art equipment and scientific principles, they seek to produce positive quantifiable evidence of the existence of spirits, portals, paranormal energy, and the afterlife. Rob Stone and Megan Price from INPR made the three hour journey to Sandusky.  The investigation began at approximately 6:30 pm and lasted into the night.

The Hotel Rieger has gone through several incarnations, including stints as a nursing home and a bed and breakfast, finally closing its doors in 1996. It has stood vacant since then and is currently owned by the city of Sandusky.

Rob reports that the majority of the activity apparently centers on the fifth floor. Paranormal activities include footsteps, shadows, and voices. The ghost of a small child is thought to haunt the entire hotel, although his or her identify is unknown.

When Orbs Attack

Investigators covered all five floors of the hotel, along with the basement. While conducting an EVP session in one of the rooms, they heard footsteps in the hallway, although they were alone on the floor at that time. They also captured an interesting orb event on the remote DVR camera – click on the hyperlink to check it out. The orb streaks down the hallway toward the camera; then, just as it reaches the camera, some type of electrical interference causes the camera image to warp and waver. The camera itself was not physically moved. Although Rob and Megan understand that most orbs are dust, insects, or moisture they are at a loss to explain the unusual characteristics of this particular orb.

Rob explains, “The story of the Hotel Rieger is something straight out of a horror novel. When it was a nursing home, the floor where we caught the orb video had a place called the waiting room – it’s basically where they took patients to die. Across from that room is a freight elevator that carried them to the morgue in the basement. So, for many residents, the fifth floor was the last place they drew breath on this earth.”

Megan took this photo of an interesting orb pattern forming in the doorway on the fifth floor.

This is the worst example of journalism I have ever seen. Presenting this crap as fact is an insult to intelligent people everywhere. The orb was a falling dust particle. The "interference" was a slight drop in current (happens all the time, especially in old buildings) that was slowed down to look more sinister. If it had been played real time, it would have looked like a little glitch... which is all that it was! Do some real research!

The worst example of journalism you have ever seen, Baxter? She clearly stated that the team that investigated this case are aware that the majority of orbs are dust particles, moisture, insects, etc. The fact that the electrical interference occurs as the orb intersects the camera is an anomaly. The article never says that the "orb event" was paranormal. I would contact the team and ask them if they encountered any other electrical interference during this investigation, but it is much easier to post a hateful comment than do a little "real research" as you call it.

I LOVE ALL THINGS PARANORMAL! THE HOUSE I LIVE IN WAS BUILT IN 1885. WE LIVE IN MURFREESBORO TN. JUST A FEW MILES FROM WHERE THE CIVIL WAR WAS FOUGHT. I MOVED IN HERE 23 YEARS AGO, MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN HAD MANY EXPERIENCES, DOORS OPENED AND CLOSED ON THEIR OWN. WE ALWAYS CALLED HIM ANDREW BLACKMAN, JUST RECENTLY WE FOUND A BOOK WITH SOME HISTORY ON THE HOUSE AND FOUND OUT WITH A SHOCK THAT THE OWNER WAS ALBERT BLACKMAN. I HAD AN ENCOUNTER WITH HIM AND THOUGHT HE HAD TOLD ME ANDREW, IT WAS QUITE A SHOCK TO FIND OUT HIS REAL NAME WAS SO CLOSE TO THE ONE I THOUGHT HE HAD TOLD ME. YES I'M A BELIEVER, I ALWAYS HAVE BEEN AND I ALWAYS WILL BE.

I am not sure how an orb can be an insect when it is clearly round, blue and looks like a ball? Besides being in all sizes, and colors. Also, moisture shows up as moisture. When you look at orbs they are all sizes and colors. I understand dust particles....but certainly one can see the difference..

If you ask me (which of course you won't) I would say
the two great boons that science has bestowed on
    mankind's female issue
Are her washing apparatus and the handy paper tissue.
    I now qualify that statement
    Without fear of a debatement
By adding you should keep the two quite separate
    and alone,
Disasters that follow their coming together being well
    and truly known.
Picture our diligent housewife on Monday's chilly morn
Ratting through the cupboards for the clothes that have
    been worn,
Giving pocket linings and knicker legs the works
And other hiding places where the fiendish tissue lurks.
    Despite this careful scrutiny
    There's surely grounds for mutiny
When all the clothes get measled with a snow of
    mangled paper -
How can she view this kindly, as a jolly little caper?
Having spent a day or more picking off the fragments
We really cannot blame her if she tears the clothes to ragments.
Is it any wonder, friends, her temper rages hot?
    How many fu
