All that gaddin’ about St. Joseph, Missouri in Parts One and Two of this series has gotta have made you cowpokes hungry enough to eat a saddle blanket! So, head 'em up, move 'em out!
Rustlin’ Up Some Grub
Bring the whole gang—Jesse James, excluded, of course—to the following local eateries for meals as good as chuckwagon feasts.
The J.C. Wyatt House (built in 1891) was lovingly restored to capture the opulence of St. Joseph’s Golden Age of Prosperity. Chef Jeff Keyasko uses fresh, local ingredients to prepare delicious meals suitable for the former (highfalutin) inhabitants of St. Joseph’s majestic mansions. You can almost smell the “old money” in the air. Reservations required. Take my rootin' tootin' word for it—you will all-fired love this place!
Galvin’s Dinner House is a family-style restaurant serving some of the most mouth-watering pan-fried chicken (famous throughout the region) that you’ve ever tasted in your life. (Their soups and salads are nothing to sneeze at, either.)
The Albrecht-Kemper Café (housed in the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art) is open to the public for lunch every Wednesday and Thursday. Although the menu changes weekly, the food is always tasty and the surroundings are as inspiring as the museum’s collection.
Boudreaux’s Louisiana Seafood serves authentic Louisiana cuisine, including seafood and steaks, in the heart of historic downtown. Laissez les bon temps roulez!
Chu’s Garden Restaurant (3619 Beck Road, 816-364-3368) is a Chinese & American buffet with varied selections. After you chow down at this trough, you won’t be hungry for hours.

Lots of good stuff.
Those are great museums.
I meant to put the museums comment on Part 2 of the article. The restaurants you reviewed in Part 3 sound wonderful.
Many times as I have visited KC but have yet to make it to St. Joe. I need to remedy that.
