Gamer, the futuristic action film starring Gerard Butler and recent Golden Globe winner Michael C. Hall, has rocketed its way to the top of all three DVD charts for the week ending January 24 according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The Lionsgate Home Entertainment release debuted at No. 1 on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart , Home Media Magazine's rental chart and was the top-selling Blu-ray Disc release of the week, with Nielsen research showing that 31% of the title's total first-week sales were on the Blu-ray Disc format.
The film only grossed $20.5 million at the box office during its September 2009 theatrical run.
Gamer, set in the future, brings to life a world where humans control other humans in mass-scale, multi-player online games: people playing people...for keeps. Mind-control technology is widespread, and at the heart of the controversial games is its creator, reclusive billionaire Ken Castle (Hall). His latest brainchild, the first-person shooter game "Slayers," allows millions to act out their most savage fantasies online in front of a global audience, using real prisoners as avatars with whom they fight to the death. Kable (Butler) is the superstar and cult hero of the ultraviolent "Slayers." Taken from his family, imprisoned and forced to fight against his will, the modern day gladiator must survive long enough to escape the game to free his family, regain his identity and to save mankind from Castle's ruthless technology.
Gerard Butler's next film, Law Abiding Citizen, will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on February 16, 2010.

As usual, Gerard Butler stole the entire movie. I loved the way he portrayed his character, Kable. He made me believe I was actually watching a real video game, with his brawny physique and the way he moved, he is the most amazing actor and he never fails to keep my full attention and is always very magnetic to watch. GAMER Blu-ray is now in my home along with my other Gerard Butler movies, a collection started with Mrs. Brown, Atilla etc. in fact all films he has made...just waiting for his next one.
Our G-Man has done it again!! I LOVED "GAMER"!! I couldn't get to see it in theatres so getting to see it on a 62" Plasma screen in HD was just as good!!!! Bless my wonderful son for the opportunity!! But I could almost reach out and grab this incredibly awesome man!! Wish I could have!! But the movie was so Gerry, I trotally love him in action flicks. He has that awesome brooding intensity that is so needed in movies like this. Dear Lord, I soooooo totally love this incredible man!!

I thought Michael C. Hall was the only saving grace in this film. The rest was noise. Hall was a cut above everyone else.
Gerry stole the movie in this action packed flick. The storyline was one that made you think about the day to day technology and how it is used. But the film was so intense and Gerry looked gorgeous. What an actor this man is. He does every kind of genre. Great stuff more please. Can't wait to see what happens when he does Shakespeare's Coriolanus with Rafe Fiennes. Wahhheyy

Great action film! My hubby really enjoyed it which was good since I drag him along to see every Gerry film. Fast paced, testosterone driven-loved it! gerry was perfect in the part .I just love him! sexy, handsome and a great sense of humor. He can play so many different types. Gamer was a good movie and well worth adding to your DVD collection
