Georgia State University head football coach Bill Curry was just inducted into The Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame. The ceremony was held yesterday at Georgia State's Rialto Center for the Arts in downtown Atlanta. Read Georgia State's coverage and see the photo album here.
Curry went to high school in College Park, south of Atlanta, and then starred at center for Georgia Tech from 1962-64. He then played ten years in the National Football League for the Green Bay Packers, Baltimore Colts, Houston Oilers and Los Angeles Rams.
Curry moved into coaching in 1976 and was a college head coach from 1980-96 with Georgia Tech, Alabama and Kentucky. From there it was on to television - Curry became a football analyst for ESPN.
On June 12, 2008, Curry was named Georgia State's first head football coach. The Panthers begin their first season on September 2 vs. Shorter College.
Named with Curry to The Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame were Braves left-hander and Cy Young Award winner Tom Glavine, Southwest DeKalb High School football coach Buck Godfrey and PGA golfer Larry Nelson.
Curry keeps piling on the accolades. Panther fans hope further acclaim is coming on the field for Georgia State.
