Georgia (6-4, SEC 4-3) started slow v. Auburn (7-4, SEC 3-4), giving up two touchdowns on Auburn’s first two possessions in the first quarter, but finished strong with two fourth-quarter scores by Caleb King, ending the game with a Georgia win, 31-24.

Last night was an important win for head coach Mark Richt and the Dawgs, as they are now bowl-eligible for the post-season. But, the win came with some strings.

A.J. Green, the leading receiver in the SEC, left the game with a left shoulder AC sprain and did not return for the rest of the game; whether or not he will return next week is unclear. Senior linebacker Darius Dewberry left the game with a left elbow injury. And, on a hit that likely saved the tying touchdown late in the fourth quarter, redshirt freshman safety Baccari Rambo received a concussion and was carted off the field.

“Rambo took the hit on that wonderful play he made, and he was unconscious for a little while,” Coach Richt stated in a press release Saturday night. “When he came to, he moved every single part of his body. We think it’s a concussion, and he didn’t have any neck pain. The great news is we don’t feel like it’s anything very serious in the long term.” Richt also confirmed that Green’s status was unclear. “A.J. hurt his shoulder and we’re just not sure. He’s out indefinitely. We’re not sure for how long, but we’ll find out.”

This was the fourth-straight victory for the Bulldogs against their oldest rival.

Georgia’s next game will be in Athens v. Kentucky on Saturday. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 7:45 p.m. (EST) on either ESPN or ESPN2.
