The Georgia Bulldogs (10-18) fell mightily to the Clemson Tigers (21-8) on Tuesday night, 15-5. After only two innings, the Tigers were comfortably ahead of the Bulldogs, 9-0, and the UGA pitching staff was falling further and further behind with every pitch. UGA head coach David Perno was clearly disappointed and disheartened, not simply with the loss, but with the magnifying glass it puts on the Bulldogs' inconsistencies as the 2010 baseball season dwindles.
"We just don't understand the value of getting ahead in the count," said Coach Perno on www.georgiadogs.com. "When you don't get ahead, the little hits start falling in and Clemson had that happen tonight. The toughest thing about this team is the uncertainty and not knowing what you're going to get this late in the season is demoralizing. I really want to see how we respond tomorrow. We're going to turn the corner on this pitching staff and I will be right there monitoring our progress. Hopefully we'll feed off of some of our better performances tonight and get back at it tomorrow."
