A celebration cache can be great to physically commemorate on point in time to remember a special occasion. Be it a birthday, an anniversary or even a dog memorial; a geocache placed in honor of the event or day will be a marker for years to come.
Deciding to celebrate placing a geocache can be tricky. What type of container explains the importance of the celebration? Where should the cache be located? What should be its’ theme? And, what is a suitable FTF (first to find) prize?
For some, a cache container is only a means to an end. For others, the time spent in planning a unique container is an enormous part of the hiding experience. With a celebration cache, spending some thought on how the container expresses the sentiment you wish to convey shows a level of excitement or admiration for your subject. This is then communicated within the first few logs from fellow geocachers to pay attention to this cache.
Some examples of cache containers that convey sentiments are:
• A micro specifically designed to blend in to a part of the scenery at a special spot, be it a dog park or a picnic bench. Is He on His Leash?, GC1Z9QX by Green Ducks does this very effectively.
• A container that resembles the person, animal or thing you admire. Tic Tac Additac, GC27KMR by Squirrel Nutcatcher resembles the boxes of Tic Tac candy she is very addicted to. Great idea!
• Why not make your neighborhood celebration container a geological feature? Of course, the geography existed for hundreds of years before you arrived but you can get people to take note of it by marking it as an Earth Cache. This erratic “bison rubbing stone” has not yet been listed yet has been known as a location used to propose marriage. Is this a special place for you?
• A Virtual Cache celebration saves you the trouble of having to buy or fashion a container at all! Simply pick a location with a fond memory attached that has some type of marker, i.e. a statue or plaque stone, etc. Research the history of the spot and share with others. If ever in New York City, Busman’s Holiday, GC832C is a great stop to remember a very funny television actor who passed away in 1987.

I like these ideas. Nice work.
Thanks, Chuck! I rather almost just eat the cake in the photo, though... :).
