The City of Calgary is celebrating 100 years of parks by giving away free stuff! The most recent Cache of the Week, Green Thumb was found to have two travel bugs pertaining to this event. If you went and claimed that cache you are eligible to win an Oregon 300 GPS unit kindly donated by GPS City. Simply fill out the entry form (one entry per month) and cross your fingers.
100 Years of celebrating city parks includes a frenzy of geocoins and travel bugs let loose in caches around the city. For a complete list of trackables and where they are at this moment, check out the listings. This provides a great opportunity for those who have little contact with elusive travel bugs to discover and record them before they are moved along to another destination. Or for those cachers with a game plan, to collect and distribute travel bugs on a greater scale. Remember, the purpose of the travel bug is encourage Calgarians and tourists to visits our Calgary parks. Place them in a cache that helps them fulfill their ultimate goal this summer. The celebration lasts through the end of 2010.
