Geocacher name: peanutbutterbreadandjam
Real name: Miles
Lives in: Airdrie
Type of GPS unit I use: Garmin Colorado 300, Garmin GPSMap60Cx, Apple iPhone
I’ve been geocaching since: December 2003

Favourite cache in the last 60 days: Alberta Alphanumeric Title Challenge, GC26KAB (premium members) - a fantastic “get-your-heart-pumping-race-for-FTF” challenge that pushed me to go harder and faster than I have ever done before.

Favourite find: The first Cache and Release event I participated in when kophykupp and I pulled an all-nighter and laughed as we went from cache-to-cache-to-cache (or should I say, peanutbutter jar in tree to peanutbutter jar in tree?!) – so any of those caches would do – none are remarkable in their own right, but as an experience nothing else comes close!

Favourite cache I’ve hidden: Probably a three-way tie between shedding her sparkler dims on the prairie, GC1QPNZ, I think of dean moriarty, I think of dean moriarty, GC1BJQT and 10lbs of sheet in a 5lb bag, GC275PJ.

I usually cache with my: Hmmm.. myself - if you do the math, but lately it feels like PrairieSwan and kophykupp. Other times it’s Red90, nicolo and 80malibu. And then there’s the afterwork daedalus. And of course the weekend, Lord Maxxor and FlyonthewaII gang. No dogs. I always try to carry spare batteries, my collection of rubber stamps, a pen and small trade items (but they rarely get used due to the proliferation of micro and small containers). I keep a well organized travel pack in my car so everything is close at hand. Nowadays my iPhone and camera never leave my side.

I’ve logged caches in: London, UK, LA, Sacramento, Toronto, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Regina, Kelowna, Revelstoke, etc. Alberta cities figure the most prominently, naturally.

The most difficult cache I’ve ever logged: Well there have been tough puzzle caches, tough physical caches, tough caches due to time/social restraints, etc. So how to pick? I have fond memories of h^jn+ hs&o+ - &n swo++0q, GCQFX8. The puzzle itself proved to be enlightening, but the physical hunt was the real challenge. I think I made two or three trips out to GZ before teaming up with nicolo. Then it was either two trips with him or a prolonged single visit – either way we were determined to not give up, but had run out of ideas and our expanded search area covered most of Calgary. Luckily perseverance prevailed and you probably have never seen to happier guys prancing about on a pile of rocks!

Most unusual place I’ve found a geocache: In my front yard! Personal cache hidden by a good friend – timitu, several years ago.

Most unusual container I’ve found: Hmm… nothing leaps to the front of my mind, and perhaps I couldn’t reveal them anyway. I guess I am still waiting to be gob-smacked.

A funny thing happened on the way to the cache: Probably best just to read my logs for this puppy: nicolo's 2 years of geocaching ... Geocache, GCXJXG and scroll down to August 15, 2006…

The best thing about geocaching is: Getting me out of a chair and outside. Allowing me to express some creativity in my cache designs/graphic designs. The option to tease. The great friends I have made. The new experiences that keep me excited and entertained. Being Obnoxious!
