American Gen Y'ers acknowledge the blessings
of living in the United States.
The recession, health care reform, involvement in the Middle East and gay marriages are just a few of the current issues in the United States Generation Y debates about. The frustration will often seep through their blogs, sometimes into casual conversation; yet, Gen Y Americans still appreciate the blessings and privileges they enjoy because they live in the United States.
Jesse Kumm, a 28-year-old e-learning teacher in Redmond, Wash., says he has much to be grateful for this year, starting with living in America.
“This year, most of all, I am thankful for America's inspiring capacity for hope and the ability to overcome even our most difficult challenges.”
Kumm is not only inspired to overcome challenges, but to learn from them and acknowledge positive efforts to make this world a better place.
“I am thankful for the mistakes I've made and the lessons I've learned from them, and then being able to share what I’ve learned with others. I am thankful for technology, science and the amazing minds that make so many new collaboration opportunities possible, opportunities where I can study and learn from others. I am thankful for the world's continued efforts to stabilize and protect our planet; for environmentally sound advancements in power production and management, recycling, supply chain management and everyday living.”
William Frierson, 25, staff writer for College Recruiter in Florence, S.C., agrees. He appreciates American leadership--in the Oval Office and the military.
“I'm thankful for President Barack Obama. He is cool, confident and inspiring. His historical election to the presidency has shown me that with hard work and perseverance I can do anything. I must also commend the service men and women of our military. They are sacrificing their lives to protect and serve the American people at a time of war, which makes me feel more safe and secure.”
Through this economic uncertainty, Frierson is also thankful for the additional security of his job.
“In a time when many people are unemployed, having a job is truly a blessing. Not only does mine allow me to learn, express myself and expand my thinking, it also gives me a chance to work with good people.”

Americans should be thankful the rest of the world doesn't yet have the means to hold the US to account for the havoc the US has wreacked on the rest of the world, eclipsing all the evils in history..
It's rich of americans to celebrate thanksgiving when the US is murdering millions in the middle east, S. America, Africa & asia and fomenting wars and internal conflicts around the world. The whole of Congress deserves to be dragged in front of the International Criminal court, along with the gov't and military.
The hijacking of theeconomy by bankers? the unemployment, the drop in quality of life? that's what comes of being a nation of self-centred bigotted simpletons. oldest story in the book.
