Today is one that is bittersweet. Today is Jonathan Jackson's first day back on the set of General Hospital in a role that he originated 16 years ago, which unfortunately means that Greg Vaughn is leaving. While I've never really accepted any one else to be the real Lucky Spencer, I still supported Greg Vaughn's work and appreciated his portrayal of Lucky.
The character of Lucky Spencer is an essential one. Recasting seemed a risky move, but it was necessary. Jonathan Jackson left some really big shoes to fill. Jacob Young was the first to step into those shoes, assuming the role in 2000 and did a really great job, but never really felt like Lucky, so much as his evil twin. It was Greg who gave Lucky a welcome feel again when he jumped onto the canvas in 2003. Again, Greg did a wonderful job, but duplicating the chemistry between Rebecca Herbst and Jonathan Jackson was proving to be impossible. Greg's Lucky was better suited for someone like Sam or Rebecca. Apparently TPTB weren't interested in going any direction that Greg's Lucky should have been taken, thus resulting in his termination.
There are conflicting reports as to whether he was fired or left on his own. Soapnet.com provided ABC's official statement: "Greg Vaughn has decided to vacate the role to explore new opportunities. We thank him for his years engaging our audience and dedication to the show and network. The cast and crew wish him well in all his future endeavors." However, for the past few days, Greg has left notes on his twitter page stating it was ABC who decided to cut him loose. I'm going to trust Greg's words on this one and say that while I love Jonathan Jackson and am excited for his return, I am sincerely crushed to hear of Greg's exit. He is a fantastic actor and I have no doubt in my mind that someone will pick him up for an amazing opportunity in the near future. I wish him all the best.

I cannot wait to see Jonathan Jackson return! Ever since I was 11 or 12 back in the late '90s when he left, I've waited to see him return. But once he was recast, I NEVER, EVER thought we'd see him again!
Seeing him reunite with Becky Herbst (Elizabeth) is going to be so emotional and powerful for me to watch! If you grew up watching their relationship unfold back in the day, you'd remember just how special and powerful their chemistry and romance was!
I echo the comments of GlowintheDark! I can't WAIT for Jonathan Jackson to come back! I've been waiting for this since I was in the 8th grade and Lucky "died". I never thought he'd come back to GH (And I'm nearly as excited to see his scenes with Tony Geary, as I am to see him act with Rebecca Herbst again) and now that he is, I can't wait. Hope they'll improve the writing for Lucky now that JJ's back
I've been seeing GH since B&W..alot of things have gone throguh over the years but the only thing that makes me cry and being happy at the same time..is knowing that (The Original Lucky Spencer Jonathan Jackson) is Coming Back..Holy Heavens! now we need back Laura and & Robert Scorpio!
i WAS TOO YOUNG TO WATCH THEM BACK IN THE DAY BUT I CAUGHT UP ON YOUTUBE TO SEE THE REAL LUCKY AND SAW JJ I WAS EXCITED I LOVE HIM AND I AM A BIG FAN OF HIS AND HIS MOVIES AND MUSIC AND DAMN HIM AND BECKY HERBST WERE SO BEAUTIFUL TOGETHER I COULDNT DO ANYTHING BUT SMILE THROUGH OUT THEIR SCENES I REALLY HOPE TPTB CAN SALVAGE THIS RELATIONSHIP AFTER THE DAMAGE THEY DID ON THIS ONCE WONDERFUL COUPLE I WAS A LIASON FAN BUT WE OBVIOUSLY SEE WHAT THEIR DOING TO THEM NOW,SO I HOPE THEY PUT THE MAGIC BACK INTO LIZ AND JJ LUCKY IF HE NEVER LEFT THEY WOULD BE CONSIDERED A SUPERCOUPLE RIGHT NOW MY SISTER SAID WHEN SHE WAS IN COLLEGE AND HER AND HER FRIENDS WERE WATCHING THEY WERE VERY POPULAR AND WELL ON TO BECOME A SUPERCOUPLE BUT JJ LFET AND THEY MADE A BAD CALL BY REPLACING NOT ONCE BUT TWICE.THEY SHOULD OF LET HIM STAYED SUPPOSELY DEAD AND AFTER ALL THESE YEARS WHEN JJ FINALLY DECIDED TO COME BACK ,MAN THOSE WOULD OF BEEN SOME DAMN GREAT SCENES FOR JJ AND BECKY AND TG TOO.
