Today, MGM Mirage, one of the top US gay-friendly hotel chains, opens its newest Las Vegas casino resort, Aria.
The 61-story Aria is the latest additional to CityCenter, a large urban develop that combines residental and vacation accomodations. The resort is one of the first Las Vegas hotels to achieve eco-friendly LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. And the largest hotel in the world with LEED Gold status.
Guests, the first of which will arrive tomorrow, will be treated to a state-of-the-art facility that includes 4,004 guestrooms and 15,000 square feet of gaming space. In addition, there are three primary pools and one adults-only pool, 16 restaurants, 10 bars and lounges and an 80,000-square-foot, two-level spa and salon.
Guestrooms, which include 568 suites, will be networked for high-speed Internet connectivity and guest service allowing customization of the lighting, room temperature and music . Each room will offer an entry foyer, floor-to-ceiling windows, dressing area with dual closets and granite top dresser, twice daily housekeeping service, custom mattress with triple-sheeted, 300 thread count linens, robes, stocked mini-bar, 42" LCD HD televisions, laptop size in-room safes. The bathrooms will include showers with bench adjacent to a soaking tubs, dual vanity granite sinks and private water closets.
The standard rates for guestrooms will range from $149 to $799, and suites will range from $425 to $7,500.
As part of Aria's entertainment offerings, Cirque du Soleil has created a permanent Elvis Presley show, Viva ELVIS. The show will play tribute to Elvis’ music and life, fusing dance and acrobatics, live music and iconic tracks, nostalgia and modernity, high technology and raw emotion.
In addition to Aria, CityCenter will include three non-gaming hotels including Vdara Hotel & Spa, Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas and The Harmon Hotel (scheduled to opening late 2010). There will also be a 500,000-square-foot retail and entertainment district and approximately 2,400 residences.
CityCenter and the various properties will house an extensive collection of art including featured works by Maya Lin, Jenny Holzer, Nancy Rubins, Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, Frank Stella, Henry Moore, Richard Long, Isa Genzken and François-Xavier and Claude Lalanne.
