The Mexican peso has plunged to record lows.
You can get a little more than 15 pesos for every US dollar. Just last summer, you would be lucky to get 10 pesos for the same dollar.
That, of course, that is great news for travelers because your dollar will go a long way. The peso is currently near all-time record lows. Last week, it briefly touched the record of 15.28.

You have undoubtedly been hearing about violence related to drugs in Mexico. And last month, a San Carlos tourist was tragically murdered in Puerto Vallarta. For details on that case, click here.
Is Mexico safe now?
The US State Department recently issued an advisory for spring break travelers. The Department noted that more than 100,000 young people visit Mexico each year for spring break and most enjoy their vacation without incident. But it listed advice for anyone traveling to Mexico and noted that alcohol is involved in the vast majority of crimes, both as the traveler being a victim and being a criminal suspect.
