The governor of the Mexican state of Jalisco announced on Wednesday, May 6, that there have been 15 confirmed cases of the H1N1 (swine flu) in Jalisco, according to the Guadalajara Reporter.
The governor said that all but one of those cases were in Guadalajara metropolitan area. The other case was in Lagos de Moreno, in the extreme northeastern section of the state.
There are still NO cases in Puerto Vallarta, which is about a four hour drive from Guadalajara. Lagos de Moreno is about as far from Puerto Vallarta as you can get and still be in Jalisco.
On Tuesday, May 5, there was a report of a woman from Oklahoma who tested positive for the flu and says that she first became sick on her way back from Puerto Vallarta. But it is not known for certain whether she contracted it in Puerto Vallarta.
Jalisco’s totals represent a little over one-percent of the total cases of the flu in Mexico.
Jalisco’s governor said the tests were conducted on Monday, April 27, but were not released until Wednesday, May 6.
Two of the patients have fully recovered and are back to their regular routines.
The governor added that testing of lab samples is still underway for 109 other possible cases in Jalisco but those results are not back yet.
