If you and your partner are looking for a fantastic venue for date night, look no further than Due Mari Pesce E Vinoteca in New Brunswick. This chic restaurant offers exceptionally fresh pastas and seafood, and it is the perfect place for a trendy gay (or straight) couple to sit down and enjoy a delicious meal out.
Upon entering the modern venue, you are greeted by a member of the staff who will introduce you to their expansive wine list and delightful sfezi dishes. These small platters offer a delicious snack to enjoy with your wine while you peruse the menu. We tried a dish featuring crostini with a chilled marinara-eggplant sauce; it was superb with David's rose wine and my riesling.
After ordering your drinks, a member of the wait staff will bring you menus and read off the night's elegant specials. Everything sounds delicious, and judging by our meal, each plate will almost certainly taste delicious, too. We opted for the pricey--but worthwhile--five-course pasta tasting for two. At $55 per person, it certainly is a luxurious dinner!
The homemade pasta shines in each dish. We started with a three-cheese ravioli that was served with a delicious basil-infused olive oil. Next, we sampled fusilli with various types of seafood including shrimp and octopus--simply divine! The third course was a fascinating stinging nettle agnolotti, dramatically served with a smear of gorgeous green pesto along the plate. The fourth course was a stroganoff-esque veal pappardelle, and the fifth dessert course was a refreshing flan (supposedly with a pasta infusion) served with strawberries and balsamic. It was superb, and a great cap to an excellent (and filling) meal!
