Last night, 38 New York lawmakers stood up for discrimination and injustice. It was quite hideous, and to be frank, I'm among many who have not been loving New York for the past 24 hours.
Now, it's New Jersey's turn to show those bigoted NY lawmakers how we roll. Yes, we have the Statue of Liberty (I don't care what anyone else says--2,000 feet from NJ, 2 miles from NY... You do the math.). Yes, we have a pretty good pizza pie that could give Brooklyn a run for its money. And yes, the Giants play on our turf. Frankly, it's time that the Garden State stood up to the Empire State and teaches it how to get something done.
I'm talking about same-sex marriage, and I'm talking about the day that could make New Jersey into the sixth state to permit LGBT couples to marry.
It was just announced that the hearing will take place at 1:00PM on Monday, December 7 at the state house in Trenton. A vote on the bill will follow later in the week. Garden State Equality members and allies will be meeting at the nearby Marriott at 9:00AM. All are encouraged to attend this rally for human rights and love.

I really think gay marriage is going places, yeah we've had our falls in the past 2 years but this is a new era where "being gay" is less frowned upon and i do believe that even if we loose New Jersey, we are moving a little closer to a ultimate goal. For those who oppose gay marriage i understand your beliefs but ask that you let us live our own lives the way we please. we are human beings too, who deserve our rights of freedom to marry who we please. And for all you supporters stay strong and never give up we have accomplished more in the past 10 years than we could have ever thought possible. Much love to all...DANI
New Jersey Assemblyman Gusciora makes the case for marriage equality and sweetly deflates the religious right.

Same-sex marriage is illogical. It's like someone saying i'm bigoted for opposing the creation of squared circle. Sure you can draw something and call it that, but it just doesn't exist in reality, only in the mind, you can pass laws recognizing it's existence, but in reality is not real. Truth is that which corresponds to reality.
It's about time that all states give everyone equal rights in this country. I dearly hope that NJ stands up and helps show the way.
How can anyone say that gay marriage isn't "real" in "reality"? That's ridiculous! Why isn't it "real"? Because they can't physically give birth to children? Should we outlaw marriage for people who choose not to have children? Who are barren? Who've reached menopause? Who are sterile because of a health condition?
These laws won't force churches to hold services for anyone that they don't want to. Legal marriage is a right that every citizen of this country should be able to have. Anything else is discriminatory and against the basic tenets of the Constitution.
I really wish you guys and gals good luck. Though I am proud to be American this is the one thing I can not understand we still can not over come. Everyone deserves to love and be loved and share their life with someone NO MATTER WHAT. There are more important things out there that will directly affect me if a law is passed. I am straight but know GAY MARRIAGE will not affect me if the law is passed. Health Care Reform will affect me when it is passed. People loosing their jobs affects me. GAY MARRIAGE will not directly affect me. Let these people live and enjoy their lives and keep out of their bedrooms.
A little over two thousand signatures got this too go the state.I could get ten times that to legalize marijuana in every state with votes too spare.People all around are for or against this, but two thousand votes is nothing. If this passes for New Jersey than there should be a law where if you get the same amount of votes then it should pass.Technically speaking Gay marriage is a bogus conquest with christianity involved. If you are christian you cannot be gay because if you are you commit sin eveyday and spite in gods eye.You cannot change it too fit your beliefs. As marriage is of a man and a woman.Beside the point though , i am not christian but i am just pointing out the deleriousness of some that pertain to one thing but do another.Practise what you preach.
The Catholic church in my community has an openly gay youth group leader. Just because you, "activist", says that someone cannot be gay and a Christian does not make it so. Considering you are not a Christian yourself, I don't think it's even your place to make this comment.
