Hollywood and Downtown's speakeasy-style establishments like Sadie, Perch and The Edison have engaged a new breed of clientele that is openly sexy, fun, fashionable, loud, reckless and gay; a perfected blend of culinary and sexual appetite.
Pasadena is known for being an elegant, manicured, conservative and poised society of Ferragamo wearing businessmen with philanthropic wives. Sadly, the future of the city's restaurants/bars is as certain as the Real Estate market thanks to its culinary culture embedded with that same stuffy sensibility..
Pasadena restaurant owners are working every angle to stay in business and are now taking cues from Hollywood and even West Hollywood. Rumors of a drag queen bingo night at one location are a reaction to the rumors of a gay salsa night at another, etc. Suddenly, the gay dollar is increasingly crucial to their bottom line, and they'll slip on those red heels from Hamburger Mary's and shake to Celia Cruz all night, if that's what it takes to get it.
On Tuesday, June 1 2011,The Raymond Restaurant came out as the summer home of “Tuesday Knights,” the weekly gay/gay-friendly mixer hosted by the Princes of Pasadena. Armed with a bold publicist, brilliant management, beautiful drinks and two quick-witted gay waiters The Raymond plans to blow its reputation and kick Pasadena in the ass. Red Bottoms, please!
The events are geared toward making Pasadena a more open minded and lgbt-friendly city while raising money for local charities. The first “Tuesday Knight” was attended by prominent Pasadena residents including; Rob and Leslie Levy (co-owners of The Raymond), Steve Tobia (THE Magazine), Gregory Parker (Parker West Interiors), Dr. and Mrs. Patrick Giordani (eHarmony), and several other loose characters looking/smelling like they just stepped out of a Tom Ford ad. The Raymond is all at once delicious, detailed and dashing.
The Raymond is located on the east side of South Fair Oaks Avenue at Columbia, just south of Glenarm. Join The Princes of Pasadena for dinner and drinks on
