"Rent," the Broadway sensation, closed earlier this month after an amazing 12 year run. Before it closed though it was filmed, allowing the audience to see "Rent" as it has never been seen before.
Personally, I love going to the live theater - in fact I just went to see Wicked on Tuesday evening and loved it, but sometimes it's good to see a live Broadway Show on TV. Recent ones that come to mind are: "Legally Blonde: The Musical" (I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it) on MTV, and PBS showed a filmed version of John Doyle's "Company with Raul Esparza". I was lucky in that I got to see the original production in New York shortly after it opened.
So as much as I enjoy live theater, sometimes it's nice to see a show from a different perspective. We're always used to sitting in the audience, but with these filmed productions you get to sit in every seat in the house. You can feel up close and comfortable with the actors and see them from angles you never would have imaged.
You only have three days left to see Rent on "the big screen" - and you won't want to miss it!
