Those waiting on pins and needles for the highly anticipated return of Project Runway can finally rest easy. The fashion world welcomes 17 new designers on Thursday, July 29 when Project Runway premieres its 8th season. The upcoming season holds special significance for Colorado, as Denver’s own Mondo Guerra will be the first designer representing the Mile-High City since the series premiere in 2004. At long last, Denver’s vibrant fashion community can cheer on one of their own.
To celebrate the season 8 premiere of Project Runway, Fabric Lab and Mondo Guerra will host a viewing party at Beauty Bar Denver on Thursday, July 29. The event kicks off at 6:00 pm and promises to deliver an evening of fabulous fashion, haute couture, and cold cocktails. Guests can even enjoy a manicure and martini while cheering on Team Mondo.
Tran Wills of Fabric Lab explained, “We plan on showing Project Runway while people are getting their nails did and sipping on our special 'Make it Work' drink! DJ Craig C will also be on the decks and a mini fashion/trunk show of The Fabric Lab Pop-Store designers will follow the episode’s premiere. We thought that it would be fun to have other local designers showcase and promote their lines.”
The Fabric Lab is an all-local clothing and accessories boutique which is currently a Pop-Up store located inside Mod Livin' on East Colfax. Wills hopes the event will rally up support for Guerra and remind Denver about its blossoming fashion community.
“I have been part of the Denver fashion scene for the last 6 years and it has evolved into such an amazing community of designers!” Wills shared. “I only see more positive and awesome things to come for the Denver fashion scene!”
Fabric Lab’s Project Runway Season 8 Premiere Party at Beauty Bar Denver is drawing the city’s fashionistas and creative professionals like designers Mona Lucero and Baily Rose, makeup artist Becky Laschansky, Fashion Denver’s Brandi Shigley, and even colorful DJ Rockstr Aaron. When asked about the encouragement of Denver’s fashion community, Mondo Guerra was elated.
“I just want to thank everyone for all of their love and support,” gushed Guerra. “I want to encourage everyone to come out and celebrate the show with me. This season is going be one of self-discovery both creatively and emotionally for me, and I’d love to share that experience.”
Guerra is already gaining state-wide and national attention based off brief previews and videos provided by Project Runway. He spoke about his experience on Project Runway with Colorado Matters’ Ryan Warner on Monday morning, addressing topics like the first challenge and his unconventional style. The Chicago Tribune also named him in a list of five contestants to watch.
With his bold designs and unique innovation, Denver and the rest of the country are eager to discover if Mondo Guerra will be Project Runway season 8’s winning designer.
