Alabama Stonewall Democrats held an event last week at which candidates had the opportunity to address a crowd of over 175 voters at the Wine Loft in Birmingham.

Some of these candidates sought an endorsement from the group, and completed questionnaires that allowed the members to assess the candidate's views and positions on issues of importance to the LGBT community. These issues include employment non-discrimination, LGBT families, equal benefits, and hate crimes, among others.

The local LGBT community is fortunate in that in many races there is more than one candidate that understands the concerns of the gay community and would enter their office, if elected, without bias and with a fair and just view of society as it relates to the LGBT community.

For races in which an incumbent is running unchallenged there is no endorsement, so you may not see a particular candidate or race listed, even though you know that race includes a candidate favorable to the LGBT community.

Here are the endorsements.

Judicial endorsements

David Carpenter - Circuit Court Judge Place 3
Honorable Clyde Jones - Circuit Court Judge Place 14
Honorable Nicole (Nikki) Still - Circuit Judge Place 17
Agnes Chappell - Circuit Judge Place 20
Denise Pomeroy - Circuit Judge Place 23
Stephen Wallace - Circuit Judge Place 24
Lynneice Washington - District Court Judge Place 10

State Legislature endorsements

Virginia Sweet - Alabama House district 43
Demetrius Newton - Alabama House district 53

U. S. Congress

Earl Hilliard, Jr. - AL -07

Alabama Stonewall Democrats urges you to support these candidates and work to get them elected. Urge your friends to join you.

Denise Pomeroy is not gay. She has been married too many times. She should have stayed with her first husband, Tyrone Lamberth. Why do hide him, Denise? Everyone in your inner circle has seen your last 2 husbands pictures. Show us Tyrone's.
