"Essential Elements: Sanctuary for the Soul" garden is featured as one of the 20
Display gardens at the San Francisco Flower & Garden Show March 24-28, 2010.
One of the most anticipated features that many San Francisco Flower & Garden Show attendees look foward to are the Display Gardens. They delight, amuse and inspire us with their cutting-edge design and creativity.
This year's theme "Gardens for the Future" gave Jason Hamon of Eco-Systems Landscape Solutions in Redwood City, the idea to create a tranquil space. Not only would it be an outdoor sanctuary for the soul but it would be designed in a way that was true to his beliefs of preservation and conservation. "It's a balance between the garden and sanctuary," said Hamon.
- Natural stone, slate paths and a transparent curb
- Waterfall cascading into a northern cedar hot tub breaks into a stream which goes under the meditation deck
- Moat around the bottom with koi pond
- Herb garden, native perennial and woodland gardens
- Worm bin tucked in the back to feed the herbs and flowers

Hamon, who started his landscaping business in 2001, was primarily involved in commercial design. As a certified arborist, his offerings were geared toward arboriculture-working with companies to provide tree management to keep employees and trees safe.
Today, he provides both residential and commercial landscaping services while reinforcing the urgency to deliver a landscape that is both beautiful, functional and eco-friendly.

The serene courtyard garden Eco-Systems designed for SAP in Palo Alto.
Hamon has already had experience creating peaceful thoughtfully constructed places. Earlier he had designed a courtyard luncheon area for SAP in Palo Alto. With its natural landscaping and fountain it has become a sanctuary for all employees to enjoy.
Shortly after the install of their garden, Eco-Systems was retained to provide SAP with an organic approach to corporate maintenance. After servicing one building within their campus for a year, SAP recruited them to provide all install, and project work. Both companies are working together toward leadership in sustainability.
"Hand equipment is used when practical, all clippings are recycled, demolition debris recycled and an herb garden to supply the campuses three cafeterias is on the agenda," said Hamon.
"My principle towards design and implementation revolves around the relationship between us and the environment. While the needs of our client are important, the relationship between nature and ourselves is also important."
When you're at the San Francisco Flower and Garden Show, make sure to stop by "Essential Elements - A Sanctuary for the Soul", stand on the meditation deck and soak in the sights and sounds of an inspirational balanced garden.

Because of your preview articles, I can hardly wait for the SF Flower and Garden Show this year!
Wonderful inspiring article about what the future of corporate landscaping can be! Thank you for sharing, can't wait to see this beautiful garden in person!
Great Job said Hamon to Hamon. A new and Innovative way to get back to what God had originally gave us at the start. Going organic in our gardens across America! I work for a company that supplies manufactured fertilizers and chemicals to help grow plants, grass, trees, etc and combat insects and rodents. Weve become way too dependent on these things that in the long run ruin not only the ground we are planting but, our wallets. I applaud Mr. Hamon for taking charge and leading us into a new and safer eco friendly way of life. Jason, Im very proud of you.
I am very impressed by the peace that radiates even from the picture on the Internet. And what I love is the tear drop! What a wonderful idea! I love water too and I am only envious that I cannot walk in that beautiful sanctuary and have a little meditation session and a bath in the stream. What is also inspiring is the way the nature and environment is treated. Thank you, Jason. Great.
