Gardenology.org looks to the garden community to help the site grow

Founded in 2007 by Raffi Kojian, Gardenology.org, the "wikipedia for plants", is growing with the help of enthusiastic gardeners.  To date the site has over 17,000 articles and 15,000 photos with related links to garden and plant resources.

Kojian, who began gardening at age 6 in Southern California, started Gardenology.org  to unite gardeners around the world and provide an interactive comprehensive site in which everyone can participate. 

Like Wikipedia, the site uses the open editing format which allows visitors to add to an existing article or easily upload their own.  Based on Gardenology's comments page,  writers, master gardeners and garden club members, to name a few, are eager to contribute articles and provide links.

The home page has a featured plant, popular garden topics and a discussion forum.  Recent forum posts: "tomatoes", "citrus" and "pee on your compost" (ugh, no!) are among the top five.  Also included are books, factoids, garden ideas and of course, lots and lots of reference pages, from botany basics  to glossary terms.  New additions are profile pages to share info and tips with other gardeners along with message boards to post updates and make friends (or enemies, if your begonias outshine theirs).

Gardeners are a generous group who love to share information and their passion for gardening.  Whether you're an expert or a beginner, Gardenology.org invites you to join a collaborative, interactive worldwide community.
