Cynthia's tree flower
.jpg)

Well known East Dallas artist, Cynthia Daniel, cultivates giant tree flowers in her expansive back yard.
A constant curb shopper, Cynthia astounds passengers in her car as she screeches to curbs, zips out of her car, inspects the merchandise and throws her new treasures in the back of her SUV. Cynthia has few friends who will ride with her more than once.
From the moment a broken wheelbarrow beckons Cynthia from the curb, her artist’s eye sees the flower taking shape. Torch in hand, Cynthia cuts, bends and watches someone’s trash become art in her gloved hands. Her flowerish paint techniques fool horticulturists, who swear the flowers grew from the tree trunks when they see them hanging in the trees. Of course the strong smell of burnt metal and acrylic paint ruins the “real” flower illusion.
Laura Abrams, another well known Dallas artist, grew a wheelbarrow flower for the State Fair of Texas’ sculpture show last year. Laura’s flower grew to large for any tree to support it, so it rested comfortably in the museum fountain garden bed.
As wheelbarrow flowers become the “in” foliage in Texas and surrounding states you may want to contact one or both of these artists so you can be the first gardener on your block with your custom tree flower.
Cynthia and Laura will again participate in the State Fair of Texas sculpture show this fall. Visit the sculpture and totem garden and look for their pieces during the State Fair of Texas.

I wonder if she did the metal palm trees at Chuys? Another splendid example of modern horticulture!
Wow. I want one in my yard. They look hard to kill and that is exactly what I need.
Yard art at its best!!! Fun. I need to know the location so I can drop off used wheel barrows to these artists.
Love her wild metal work! Want to see more of it. Hopefully, someday in my own yard.
Got something to say?
