Doing a twelve pack with Mattel's Barbie and friends

OK, so it’s not a "twelve pack" twelve pack- it’s an amazing dozen auctions in one night twelve pack. These auctions are for clothes, shoes, and other assorted accessories for vintage Barbie dolls. And her friends- can’t forget her friends. Well, maybe Darci isn’t her friend- she’s made by Kenner and Judy Littlechap is made by Remco (Barbie, in case you didn’t know, is made by Mattel). Who really cares- they’re all 12” doll items bought on Friday. Got a bagful of goodies for $10.00- some of it is garbage, some of it is pretty decent. With any luck, the Barbie fur headband will sell for $20.00 and anything else that finds a home will be bonus. I always feel so manly after talking about Barbie stuff- I think I’ll go watch some cage fighting to get those testosterone levels back up. Hey, how about them Packers, eh?

 

I missed out on an Ibanez guitar foot switch on Friday. The asking price was $20.00 and I don’t know enough about guitar switches (or much of anything else related to guitars…) to drop that kind of dough on an item that’s not a sure thing. Well, turns out this item was a sure thing and I should have dropped twenty on it. But, the yard sale gods were kind and when I returned on Saturday morning, I was still able to snap it up. If it tests in good working order, this vintage Japanese built phaser should go for around a hundred.

 

Other noteworthy items from this weekend: a Brother P-Touch XL printer with full sized keyboard, a Technics SL-Q300 turntable, a zip-lock half bag filled with vintage pencil leads (yup, for real), and another kalimba. This is a pretty nice one, made by Hugh Tracy, and if the wood on the back wasn’t split I’d feel pretty good that this one would sell for about $50.00. It comes with original box, instructions and even though this African musical instrument still sounds great, looks sharp, and is still completely solid- that split might scare most away. There were a few other odds and ends, but nothing too worthy. They might get mentioned if and when they are put to auction.

 

Updates on completed auctions: The Minerva planimeter finally geared up and found some action- it finished strong at $82.00. The lot of vintage baking soda cards went up a little to $15.50, about $10.00 more than I figured. Everything else pretty much stayed the same and those lead pirates have sunk for the last time- with no bids, they’ll walk the plank and it’s down to Davy Jones locker they go. Or some drawer somewhere.

 

Note to Danielle: Your Barbie/Midge case, depending on the exact style (there are several) and condition could be worth anywhere from $15.00- $80.00. Big gap, I know, but that's what recently ended Ebay auctions show.
