Sony had nothing to do with Nazi PlayStation 3 ad

BBDO Chile "mock campaign" for PS3

Recently a pretty controversial PS3 ad surfaced from Chile where a kid is giving blood to a Nazi and in the upper left corner is the PlayStatoin 3 logo, with some nurses, etc. (seen above). Many people were pretty upset by the ad and demanded an explanation from Sony. Engadget got the real story directly from Sony. It turns out, Sony had nothing to do with the ad at all and they were actually upset themselves.

Direct from Engadget's post, Sony is quoted saying:

This creative design did not involve and was never approved by Sony Computer Entertainment or Sony. This "mock campaign" was developed by BBDO Chile staff and was submitted to various creative competitions/festivals without prior notification or approval from SCE/Sony, and it is not representative of the views or advertising policies of SCE/Sony. BBDO Chile apologizes for using this creative concept without authorization or prior approval, and for its misrepresentation of the PlayStation brand and its values.

Talk about a crazy ad agency, but I am guessing they got the reaction they wanted (and the publicity).

This is the third time BBDO did something like this, when is Sony going to fire this agency?
