Guardian Games - The place in Portland for all your gaming needs

Many may remember a small game shop that opened on Foster a few years ago and after only a short time had to move because a nasty wind storm, quite literally, blew the building over. According to the owner, Angel May, it was the best thing that ever happened for them.

After the disaster at their first space, Angel was able to acquire a huge space that now houses both the store and their well known gaming areas. They are truly the biggest gaming store in town with over 4000 ft. of gaming space. And Angel has put every inch to good use.

When you first go looking for Guardian games at it's new home at 315 SE 3rd street, you'll wonder if you're in the right place. It's an industrial area and you'll find lots of trucks to contend with as the warehouses in the area receive their daily shipments, but that calms down nicely in the later afternoon. But that doesn't stop the gamers from flooding in throughout the day and evening.

The store is sorted into two areas that smoothly move into one another without crowding itself. The first area as you walk into the store is the actual store with everything you could want displayed on the racks, walls and within cases. I was astonished at how much is really available all in one store, but Guardian Games offers everything from the most modern, up to date board games, RPGs, card games, miniatures, dice etc. to the out of print for over a decade Intellivision games, board games, card games and just about anything else you might want. She has even acquired copies of the original paper back Dungeons and Dragons 3 book set and a Deities and Demigods that contains the Cthulhu and Melbonian mythos, which had to be reprinted after the owners of those mythos sued TSR for copyright infringement.

If you are looking for something that is out of print, Guardian is your best bet to find it in town. As you peruse the walls you'll find one of the largest selections in just about every gaming area. Whether you're into card, board, video, or other games, you'll most likely find it here. As always, the owner of Guardian Games, Angel May, is available along with her very capable staff to answer any questions you may have.

Bridgetown Hobbies & Games here in Portland had once been the absolute best place to find your Warhammer miniatures, paints etc. but Guardian beats them in pure selection hands down. Guardian also offers WWII miniatures as well as the grass, sand and other items you might want for table top war gaming.

It's a see it to believe it kind of store, so I would definitely say make the time to go down and see for yourselves. For even more information, and more importantly their calender of numerous events, take a look at their website: http://www.guardiangamesportland.com/

You'll find a nice map, current schedules for games and hours and a more inclusive list of items they offer on the page.

The second area of the store is a large gaming area that offers 17 tables for gaming of all kinds as well as two comfy couches for console gaming with two televisions set up with the Wii, Xbox 360 and the PS3. One of the wonderful things about Guardian Games is that they have store copies of a lot of games and are perfectly happy to have folks sit down and try before they buy. Unlike many stores they also go the next step further and encourage folks to stay after they've bought as well. Angel is a friendly, welcoming hostess and you can tell she is in every way a gamer girl that loves what she does and has created an amazing space for the gamers here in Portland.
