Ten sexiest female video game characters

One of the great aspects of playing a videogame is becoming completely engrossed in the characters. It certainly doesn’t hurt when those characters are easy on the eyes. Here is a top ten list that pays tribute to some of the sexiest women ever to grace a console.

10. Jill Valentine – Resident Evil Series

If horror movies have taught us anything it is that sex appeal is heightened when monsters are looming in the darkness, ready to strike. This is why Jill Valentine can wear that stupid beret and maintain a sexy demeanor. Jill not only saved the day in the game series, but she came to life on the silver screen in the form of the gorgeous Sienna Guillory in Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Though her appearance has changed over the years, Jill has still retained her horror babe hotness.

9. Tifa Lockheart – Final Fantasy

Tifa is one cool character. She’s strong, passionate, and she fights with nothing more than her fists. She also has breasts the size of grapefruits. Tifa has the personality of a tomboy, but the body of a stripper. That makes for one awesome combination when it comes to pleasing gamers. Ms. Lockheart not only serves the purpose of best friend to Cloud, she is also a hot chick who is one of the game’s strongest characters. Who wouldn’t want her in their party?

8. Aya Brea – Parasite Eve Series

This New York cop has truly run into some strange circumstances along her travels. Whether it is people randomly bursting into flames or her own ability to resist the pyrotechnics, Aya leads an incredibly interesting life. And it doesn’t hurt that she’s easy on the eyes while she’s doing all of this. Aya Brea was born from a white father and a Japanese mother; giving her beautifully unique features.

7. The Final Fantasy X-2 Girls – Final Fantasy X-2

Gamers really weren’t sure what to expect from Final Fantasy X-2 when it was first released. It was a sequel to the popular Final Fantasy X, but the main character in the first installment was notably missing from the three main female characters in the sequel. Instead, fans were offered up three spunky female leads. Yuna, who played a major part in the defeat of Sin during Final Fantasy X, Rikku, the nubile 17 year old who helped found the Gullwings, and Paine, a sarcastic Goth looking character who could easily be mistaken for a dominatrix. With wardrobe changes and girly giggles galore one might think that male gamers would have been turned off by this installment of the series, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. The game was met with great reviews from the critics, and one has to wonder if the three hot heroines had anything to do with that.

6. Samus Aran – Metroid Series

When gamers were first introduced to Samus Aran in 1986 they couldn’t get enough. Metroid was one of the best games around and Samus was one of the coolest heroes. With a special suit and an advanced weapon system it really seemed like this protagonist could go down as one of the toughest heroes of all time. Just one thing got in the way: Samus was actually a heroine. That’s right, after long hours helping Samus save the world, gamers were let in on the joke as she took off the suit and donned a bikini. And any girl that's that cool is definitely hot.

5. Hana and Rain – Fear Effect: Retro Helix

Hana and Rain are typically beautiful and busty babes in the sequel to the original Fear Effect. They throw out witty one-liners and have specific skills that help them acquire whatever special objects they are looking for. So what makes them sexier than your average spies? The fact that they are sexy…together. That’s right; Hana and Rain are lovers in this installment of the Fear Effect series. There’s just something about these sexy Sapphic spies that puts them toward the head of the class.

4. The Girls of DOA – DOA Series

The Dead or Alive series uses a three dimensional fighting arena in which players must focus on attacking swiftly and accurately. It also has a lot of half naked women to choose from as far as characters go. The popularity of the partially clad beauties even sparked enough interest to transfer the story from game to film. With Jamie Pressly and Devon Aoki staring in this gem of a bad movie, its charm is DOA specific.

3. Rayne – BloodRayne Series

If the popularity of the Twilight series has taught us anything it is that vampires are hot. Maybe it’s because they’re immortal, maybe it’s because they are incredibly powerful, or maybe it’s just because they have a big obsession with hickeys. And though Rayne is technically a Dhampir (half human, half vampire) there’s still something way hot about her. She may be a little violent, and the amount of blood that spurts forth from the game could turn off some gamers, but in the end there’s something about her that makes the average gamers’ pulse race. It could be the fact that she was played by Kristanna Loken in the film adaptation.

2. Joanna Dark – Perfect Dark Series

She’s like a female version of James Bond. Does anything more really need be said?

1. Lara Croft – Tomb Raider Series

Lara Croft won over our hearts when she first invited us into her mansion to show us just what her amazing body was capable of. She then sealed the deal when she asked us, with her polite British accent, to allow her to get dressed. This tomb raider is quite possibly the ultimate geek fantasy. She jumps, vaults, dives, tumbles and flips her way from level to level. And the if the two canons attached to her thighs aren’t enough to impress audiences then the ones located further north will probably do the job. And if you’re still not impressed, the real life embodiment of Ms. Croft is none other than Angelina Jolie; arguably the sexiest woman alive today.
