Zune HD video preview adds mystery before launch

The Zune HD keeps getting better and better.

If you missed the sterling photos of Microsoft’s upcoming Zune HD, well, you can still find those here. But today, there is even something better. You may have heard that Best Buy was holding preview’s of the Zune HD at selected stores, so you just knew someone would get some great video and there has been one thing in particular driving folks wild.

The Apps part of the Marketplace menu item that has been confirmed with little else as far as information.

Games?

Full on SDK?

What’s going on here?

Well, the video indeed got footage of the Apps menu inside the “Marketplace” section, however it was completely inaccessible. Wi-Fi was disabled and attempts to get any further were hindered.

Frustrating but understandable.

Now, according to the guy who filmed the video and given to Engadget, he inquired about whether the Zune HD would be getting an SDK. The answer?

Yup.

So, now the mystery runs even deeper. Not only is there a non-functioning Apps section to the Zune, but now there is unconfirmed reports that it possibly might be getting an SDK. And you thought the Zune HD was awesome a couple of weeks ago?

The only problem is, if they are trying to get an SDK out and get developers excited about it, why has nothing been mentioned about it already? Why haven’t they given them a taste? Seems a little odd doesn’t it? Of course, the SDK isn’t confirmed but hey, we can speculate.

Either way, the Zune HD is taking huge strides toward being something big. And as always, enjoy the video guys, can’t wait for September 15th.

    Jonathan,

SDK stands for Software Development Kit, basically is allows for developers to design apps. Hope the Zune HD gets one. :)

    Thanks for reading,

I'm excited! I wanted to develop some apps for Apple, but you have to have a Mac. This is what I've been waiting for.
